Re: Republicans: continued
Lauren Boebert celebrates an amendment she had the legal people on her staff write. Nobody knows the other 4. maybe the bills did not pass?
Lauren Boebert
@laurenboebert
My most recent amendment passed on a bipartisan basis, 336 - 31.
Five of my amendments to help improve legislation have passed the House since January.
It's wonderful to see the reforms I fought for are now helping get Congress back to doing the work we were sent here to do.

Which bill or amendment to a bill which you advanced was passed by the Senate, and signed by President Biden. There maybe some, but I do not recognize them. Which ones?

Mitch falls on head. Decides taxes and Medicare not bad after all! Will quit politics and will run Kentucky senior center.
In a statement on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Republican leader said McConnell would remain in the hospital for several days of “observation and treatment”.

Re: Republicans: continued
Black MO congresswoman and dingbat Boebert scuffle in congress. Agrican culture is inferior!
(The witness was for energy topic)
(The witness was for energy topic)
https://www.newsweek.com/lauren-boebert ... tid=ykz3hlMr. Chairman, I demand the gentlelady's words be taken down," Boebert interrupted. "She just called the witness a white supremacist."
"No, I referred to the words, not to the person—not to him, the words," Bush responded.
The gentlelady is referring to the witness's statement and referred to him as a white supremist," Boebert said as part of the back and forth.
Bush denied Boebert's claim once more, prompting Boebert to call for a parliamentary inquiry to take down Bush's words "for insinuating that our witness made white supremist statements using his words."
Subcommittee Chairman Pat Fallon, a Texas Republican, replied, "The chair cannot take down words that are directed toward a witness only to other members." He gave the floor back to Bush.
Bush went on to reference Epstein's words on African culture being presented on equal footing as Western culture, which he allegedly thought was unjust.
"Rather than disavow them, [Epstein] doubled down on this narrative saying, 'It has nothing to do with skin color,'" Bush continued. "'I was arguing that those cultures overall are inferior to Western culture.'"
"We are not inferior to any culture, speaking as a descendant of one of those cultures," she said.
Crazy day hearing today, which was supposed to be on the SPR," Epstein later tweeted. "Ranking member [Bush] devoted her opening to portraying me as a White Supremacist, and after I debunked that [Representative Melanie Stansbury] tried the same thing + lied about my relationship with industry (also debunked)."
(Witness then goes on to describe that white people are superior in extracting materials from shithole countries)
What I've argued for my entire adult life is that Western culture is superior in the sense that it promotes individualism and freedom," Epstein said Wednesday. "And I have fought my entire life for freedom around the world, including in Africa, including in Asia, including in India. And I want everyone around the world to have the same opportunities that I do in the United States."
He refused to apologize.
"The idea that this is associated with skin color is despicable and racist. Skin color has nothing to do with ideas. Where you came from geographically is irrelevant. What's relevant is what's true. So you can ask more about that, but that was an insane diversion from the truth."
Raskin's letter was described as a response to a committee hearing on the U.S.-Mexico border, and accusatory comments made by Republicans including blaming the Biden-Harris Administration for implementing a plan "to deliberately open our border" for purposes of "changing our culture."
It also denounced the "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory of non-white immigrants intentionally being brought to the U.S. to "replace" white populations.
"If Committee Republicans intend to continue examining the southern border and related policies, it is imperative for every member of this Committee to make clear to the American people that we speak with one voice to reject dangerous conspiracy theories and racist and antisemitic ideology in our Committee's deliberations and decision-making," Raskin said. "I feel certain—and I fervently hope—that you agree."
Boebert, among those who didn't sign the letter, in the past called Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota a member of the "Jihad Squad" and later apologized. It led to GOP infighting between Boebert, who at the time was backed by Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Republican Representative Nancy Mace.
A House Oversight spokesperson told Forbes in a statement that it's "shameful that Democrats are calling efforts to protect the American people from the worst border crisis in history racist."

Re: Republicans: continued
Republicans demand maximum coal burning and oil extraction for 10 years. Basically cancelling Biden:
In addition, the caucus called to end President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program; rescind unspent COVID-19 and Inflation Reduction Act funds; enact the REINS Act, a bill that would broaden congressional input on agency regulations; and loosen domestic energy production regulations.
(Boebert demands more canceling tools)
We fought to have the tools to do what we are doing today, and it’s time that we stop bragging about our tools, admiring our tools, and actually get to nicks them — actually use the tools that we fought so hard for House Republicans to have in this Congress,” Boebert said.
The White House released a $6.8 trillion budget proposal on Thursday that includes tax hikes on the wealthy as a means for reducing the budget deficit. It immediately drew sharp pushback from Republicans.

Re: Republicans: continued
The economy isn't a force of nature, or a thing that has independent existence. It's a human-created system of value and exchange that expresses the legal, para-legal, and non-legal frameworks under which it operates. That said, economic systems clearly can be, and indeed are, "nurtured" -- i.e. guiding, overseeing or fostering the development, operation and/or well-being of something -- by institutions like govts and central banks etc. The question then is: how do those with the power and responsibility for the economy nurture it, and on what grounds and to what end?Tero wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 11:37 amI might agree with Boebert this time. Either bailing out Silicon Bank, or letting it sink can both be easily justified on the grounds of nurturing the economy by those with the power to take such decisions. But what BoBo is saying is that govt should not financially encourage or support the institutions of, or investors in, the private sector - which is i) a bit rich when one thinks of the GOP/Trump's massive tax handouts to the corporate and financial sector, let alone the tax breaks, subsidies, and COVID bailouts she and her own businesses have directly benefited from, and ii) a bit economically illiterate when one considers the staggering amount of value the govt pump into the economy via contracting services.
All she's saying is that the govt shouldn't help businesses she takes issue with, even though Silicon Bank's activity helps finance a tech sector which accounts for over 30% of US GDP.

A bit comical, since Twitter is her bullhorn, and also the main tool for the extreme right, Freedom Caucus, on social media.
I guess the Internet world being such a big chunk of the economy is not a surprise as the jobs are the same "services" as most jobs are these days, not manufacture.
