Order will triumph!

'"From the Moment of Fertilization": Louisiana Advances Bill Criminalizing Abortion as Homicide – Women, Doctors Could Be Jailed'
A Louisiana House committee by a vote of 7-2 advanced a bill that decrees human life begins at the moment of fertilization, abortion is felony murder, and the state has the right to ignore any federal law or court ruling – even the Supreme Court – that is in opposition to those claims. Any pregnant person who obtains an abortion, and anyone assisting them could be charged with homicide, prosecuted, and sent to prison if convicted. Louisiana has a death penalty statute on the books.

The legislation was drafted with the help of a local pastor, the Daily Advertiser reports.

HB 813‘s purpose, the bill reads, is to: “Fully recognize the human personhood of an unborn child at all stages of development prior to birth from the moment of fertilization,” and “Ensure the right to life and equal protection of the laws to all unborn children from the moment of fertilization by protecting them by the same laws protecting other human beings.”

If signed into law Louisiana would “Treat as void and of no effect any and all federal statutes, regulations, treaties, orders, and court rulings which would deprive an unborn child of the right to life or prohibit the equal protection of such right.”

Meanwhile in Maine: One Susan Collins, Republican senator who claims to support women's reproductive rights yet voted for Supreme Court justices who were specifically chosen for their regressive approach.

She voted for Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and previously for Alito, who has claimed since 1985 that the US 'Constitution does not protect the right to an abortion.' Susan Collins professed to believe that these fine upstanding jurists would respect precedent and would not vote to take away women's reproductive rights.

She thought police should be involved when somebody wrote a polite request in chalk outside her house in Bangor, Maine.
Susan Collins calls the cops to investigate “defacement of public property” after someone wrote a message in chalk on the sidewalk near her home asking her to codify Roe.

Susan Collins calls police after pro-abortion rights chalk message appears outside her Bangor home
"Susie, please, Mainers want WHPA -----> vote yes, clean up your mess,' the message read, according to a Bangor police report.

Susan Collins finally found something that outrages her: chalk.

Very slight relief here. Maybe I don't need to sell my house:
"In Nebraska, Jim Pillen, a farmer backed by the state's outgoing governor, won the Republican primary for Nebraska governor. The Trump-endorsed candidate, Charles Herbster, lost the primary after facing accusations of groping multiple women. Pillen will face Carol Blood, who easily won the Democratic Party's nomination."

What to do with MAGA? Trump is still running the 2020 election, mostly. DeSantis emerges, Trump tossed aside as symbol in red silly hat.
That dynamic has already surfaced in the House, where McCarthy has long struggled to keep MAGA firebrands like Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Matt Gaetz of Florida in line as they have repeatedly distracted from the GOP’s ability to drive a message.

But with Trump so heavily involved in trying to pick winners and losers, the totality of the primary season will deliver a verdict not just on the power of the man, but also on the power of the movement and whether he controls the forces he unleashed.

If there are any signs of weakness, increasingly prominent figures like DeSantis are circling, ready to swoop in and carry the MAGA flag at a moment’s notice.

Very seriously. So seriously they're willing to debase themselves in a variety of grotesque ways if it panders to the bizarre narratives of right wing cuckoo-land. Elise Stefanik was at one time considered a moderate Republican. She got on board the Trump clown car and now proudly wears a fright-wig, red rubber nose, and big floppy shoes.

'"Seems like a pro-life thing to do": Republican politician Elise Stefanik says baby formula shouldn’t be given to migrants'
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has become a trending topic on Twitter after accusing President Joe Biden of shipping baby formula to the southern border amid the country’s ongoing shortage.

In a tweet on May 13, Stefanik argued that American mothers and their babies were suffering due to what she described as the Biden Border Crisis.

“Joe Biden continues to put American LAST by shipping pallets of baby formula to the southern border as American families face empty shelves,” she wrote. “This is unacceptable.”

...

While many are suggesting that Biden has personally ordered that formula be shipped to the southern border, federal law has required the CBP to provide nourishment for infants in their custody since the 1990s. The CBP also provided items such as baby formula to Central American and Mexican migrants during former President Donald Trump’s tenure.

Stefanik was quickly accused of advocating for the starvation of migrant infants by Democrat lawmakers. Many including Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) helped the hashtag #EliseStarvefanik become a top trend on Twitter while accusing the lawmaker of belonging to “the pro starvation caucus.”

...

As noted by Snopes, the formula at migration facilities only makes up a minuscule percentage of the formula used domestically. Around 3.6 million babies were born in the U.S. in 2020, 75 percent of which whom used formula at some point before the age of 1. During the same year, 150,000 unaccompanied minors had been in custody and at least 75 percent of them were over the age of 15. So while the exact number of migrant infants using formula is unknown, it pales in comparison.

Stefanik doubled down on her criticism of the Biden administration later on Friday as well in a tweet referring to “pedo grifters.”

“The White House, House Dems, & usual pedo grifters are so out of touch with the American people that rather than present ANY PLAN or urgency to address the nationwide baby formula crisis, they double down on sending pallets of formula to the southern border,” she added. “Joe Biden has NO PLAN.”

MSNBC had this story. There are 200-1000 babies being fed this federal forumula. In the country 3-4 million other babies need formula.

And, seriously, why don't they just feed the babies soy milk? It does not have vitamins, but you can go a week without that, or crush adult vitamins and dissolve them in the milk.

Republicans are claiming that the January 6 committee subpoenas set a bad precedent and they threaten to investigate Hunter Biden, Fauci, etc. if they retake the house..... upon the theory that asking the courts to invalidate congress' subpoena power will help them pursue those investigations. Wait. What?
