Let's give them nothing! Because CRT is all we need.

SNL Republicans:
The interview then pivots to Strong's Pirro asking Virginia Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin, played by Alex Moffat, about his electoral race earlier this week.

"My win in Virginia proves that people are deeply concerned about education," Moffat's Youngkin said.

When asked who gave him most of his votes, he said, "People who didn't go to college."

It seems that "deeply concerned about education" really means hatred for the "educated elite" who dare to teach historical reality rather than a whitewashed version...

You might want to look into what parents are objecting to before taking the Democrats word for it. For example, it's hardly surprising that parents don't want you to tell their kids they were raised by racist who exert control over all people of color, nor is that the same as opposing attempts to teach history.

Here is an example of the kind of thing parents are worried about. Even if you disagree with them, it's not what Democrats are telling you it is.
She argues that, at the earliest possible age, white kids should be taught to identify whiteness as the root of racial injustice so that they can reject the pervasive racism that they would otherwise embody. I think her account of what causes police killings is too monocausal and that her zeal for uprooting racism sometimes strays into overgeneralization based in racial stereotyping. Regardless, her message that kids can choose to reject racism is laudable, and many school districts find it valuable. What follows is an edited and condensed version of our discussion.

Parents are worried about their kids being taught CRT. Yet most parents have no idea what CRT is.

I gave you an example of the kind of things parents are worried about. You'll find that book and others like it mentioned by those driving the opposition to "CRT".

I doubt most of them have much of a clue. Most are probably just parotting talking points they heard on fox news.

So, is the point just to feel superior? Because if you think most on our side have got a clue...

I'm not a CRT expert and neither are many others who have taken up defending it 5 minutes ago.

The debate around here has been pretty heated and centered around CRT. The concerns about kindergarteners being exposed to racial ideas was conflated with CRT, and no specific examples were given.

This was from the GOP. The Democratic response here was, "What the hell are you talking about? Nobody's gonna teach CRT in K-12, it's graduate level stuff."

Thanks for providing an example. I think 4 and 5 year old's are too young for Higginbotham's book too. Let them have their innocence. When they get to the grades where history is taught though, they should get it straight, without ideological filters. That's always tough, because history books tend to reflect the views of the era they are written in.

For any who are interested, here's an animated reading of Not My Idea read by the author.

No one needs to defend it. It's not being taught in schools is it?

That depends on who you ask.

The point is that if Republicans are conflating CRT with nonsense like the book above, the Democrats are happy to focus on that, rather than any reasonable concerns in favor of portraying their opponents as hopelessly ignorant racists.

It's ssdd really. I'm a Democrat, and even donate real cash --idiot that I am-- monthly to the party. But we're as full of shit as anyone.

I get around that by focusing on what we want, as a party, and where I think the party could go e.g. social safety nets and eventually supporting a real separation between church and state; two things among many positives that are impossible with the current Republican party.

The Democrats I heard called it a made up issue to stir parents up. The fact that neither that book or CRT is being taught in any of our local school districts suggests they're right.

I'm sure there were some idiots calling parents hopelessly ignorant racists for worrying about CRT, but was that the position of the Democratic party?

I'm unaffiliated, so I don't follow them that closely, but it seems like a lousy way to get votes.
