You're free to give examples of the effectiveness of your skepticism. Until then I'll regard your claims to be able to see through the deception as largely irrelevant to the problem of a lack of accountability for those doing all the lying.

Of course it's irrelevant, basically since I made no such claim. My claim is that I do not rely on governments to do the right thing, that they cannot be trusted to provide truthful information, and that truthful information is provided by researchers, reporters, whistleblowers and such instead.

The Growing Partisan Divide in Views of Higher Education

The share of Americans saying colleges and universities have a negative effect has increased by 12 percentage points since 2012. The increase in negative views has come almost entirely from Republicans and independents who lean Republican. From 2015 to 2019, the share saying colleges have a negative effect on the country went from 37% to 59% among this group. Over that same period, the views of Democrats and independents who lean Democratic have remained largely stable and overwhelmingly positive.

Both sides have a problem with the cost. Responses to other questions show that for the Republicans this is standard culture war stuff. Lefty college professors turning kids into commies, snowflakes, etc...

Middle-aged and older folks don't like the young - but it's middle-aged and older folks who have burdened the US with student debt that it iss illegal to default on and the interest rates of which are determined by private, commercial considerations. That's institutionalised usury facilitated by the state, plain and simple.
