Trump's core of supporters in the US amounts to about 35% of those polled (his approval rating regularly seems to bottom out around there). That's bad enough, of course, but it's nowhere near 50%. I surmise that even a fair number of that 35% know that Trump's logorrhea has only a marginal relationship to the truth, but they don't give a fuck--in their opinion he's 'owning the libs', and that's what's really important.
