South China Sea could be one, but the US doesn't care enough to defend it, and China is big enough to ignore the US's empty threats. Nothing is going to happen there. I'm sure Trump will issue a heartfelt apology to Mrs. Warren now that his insults have been revealed to be based on a falsehood.

To be fair, it wasn't unreasonable to doubt that Warren had Indian ancestry. It took politically motivated malice for her senatorial election opponent to turn that doubt into a smear attack, albeit a lame and trivial one (per Śiva). Nor does it excuse Trump's juvenile playground bully name-calling.

I was agreeing with your characterization of the issue of her ancestry as trivial. Her opponent in the senatorial election back in 2012 ginned it up as a big deal, claiming that she'd lied about her ancestry in order to advance her career. We already knew that the 'advance her career' aspect was baseless. Now there is evidence to show that she wasn't lying about her ancestry either. Trump merely grabbed onto the earlier mendacious smear to create his own childishly spiteful epithet for her. He shouted it as a candidate, and has continued to use it as president. That's how a trivial matter was magnified to the point that it's currently a news item.
