How much trouble

Is the US in right now? Suppose dems don't do well in the elections, how bad does this get?

That's what I'm thinking. The government doesn't represent the people at all at this point. How could that come about without serious corruption?

Let's call stage 1.

What's stage 2?

Let's call stage 1.

What's stage 2?
Stage 2: Donald Trump's second term
Stage 3: Two Supreme Court Judges retire. Replaced by Steve Bannon and Richard Spencer
Stage 4: Donald Trump announces his son, Baron, as his successor.
Stage 5: Challenge on the grounds of unconstitutionality per 22nd Amendment is thrown out of court by SCOTUS 7:2
Stage 6: One Supreme Court Judge retires. Replaced by Alex Jones.
Stage 7: SCOTUS reinterprets 22nd Amendment. Baron Trump is declared President for life. SCOTUS validates decision 8:1.
Stage 8: All owners of firearms are jubilant. Form the UTM (United Trumpist Militias).
Stage 9: One Supreme Court Judge retires. Replaced by Milo Yiannopoulos.
Stage 10: The role of Congress is redefined as advisory body. SCOTUS makes it official 9:0.
Stage 11: Democrats, Greens and associated miscreants are declared Enemies of the People. Privately owned prisons are repurposed as concentration camps.
Stage 12: Baron Trump is proclaimed King of the United States of America. The Trump dynasty is formally recognised as such.
Stage 13: Russia forecloses on the USA, and takes control of it.
Stage 14: The People's Republic of China and Russia let fly all nuclear missiles at their disposal.

I was thinking more like go broke, find a scapegoat, go to war.

Or go broke, find a scapegoat, dismantle progressive policies.

There's that reactor in Iran. Not a conspiracy theorist, spectacular cock-up theorist however. It'd be a distraction...like Vietnam was after JFK.

I think the US's problems are not unique and the issue can be characterised as the social, economic and political consequence of a single party using their time in power to try and fix democratic processes and institutions to favour them in the long term, and by default. There's a historical precedent for this if we look at how, say, monarchies or pre-Enlightenment religious institutions traditionally secured and perpetuated their power. What we are seeing at the moment is the theocratisation of political ideology.

When Pence assumes power. Atheists are a perfect scapegoat for hard times consequential to trade and other barriers isolating America within itself. A frog does not notice itself being in hot water if the heat is turned up slowly with Trump.

So who's protecting us? What good are our institutions if they can't prevent a take over of the system by a single party? Why is it okay to secure the world for democracy but whatever will happen, will happen at home?

It's bullshit all the way down innit?

I'm trying. I have options. But I need to finish school first and probably 1-2 years experience in the job. But there's no reason why I have to get that experience where I'm at now. So I'm looking to Washington again.

I'm mostly worried about the kids. I hate to sound so dramatic, but the writing's on the wall man!
