It's a good thing that Republicans are so concerned with public morals. It's so important to set a good example.

Hard to be afraid of snowflakes in a state where snow is more of a theoretical concept than anything, icecubes, they know, snow, it's a kindad drug, ain't it?

Just think, when DeSantis is president, the whole USA can look forward to the delightful prospect of book bans and whitewashed false history. Oh and no naughty bits on statues to outrage fine upstanding Christian parents!

'Florida Principal Ousted After Parents Melt Down Over Michelangelo’s "Pornographic" Statue of David'
A Florida charter school principal has been ousted after multiple parents complained that their sixth graders were made to view pornography—because they looked at Michelangelo’s iconic statue of David.

The statue was shown during a sixth grade art history lesson at Tallahassee Classical School, the Tallahassee Democrat first reported. One of the most famous pieces of artwork in the world, the statue shows a chiseled, naked man posing. But while most of the world sees it as art, some parents deemed it “pornographic” and said it “upset” their children.

Parents at Tallahassee Classical now want to take an advanced vote on any lesson their kids could be subjected to that’s deemed “controversial,” part of a growing nationwide trend to dictate education supported by Florida’s own education board and the DeSantis administration.

Florida officials have banned hundreds of books, passed rigorous anti-LGBTQ laws, and strictly regulated discussions of race and racism in its public schools, while Gov. Ron DeSantis has placed and endorsed ideological allies on education boards across the state.

Who could have foreseen this development?

'Critics Say DeSantis Move to Expand "Don't Say Gay" Exposes Law's True Intentions'
Florida's Republican governor and presumed 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis is moving to expand his state's prohibition on classroom discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity to all grades.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday denounced DeSantis' effort to broaden what critics call the "Don't Say Gay" law, describing it as "completely, utterly wrong."

Passed last year by Florida's GOP-controlled Legislature, the law forbids classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3. The DeSantis administration's proposed rule change, first reported Tuesday by The Orlando Sentinel, would extend the ban on such lessons to grades 4-12, except when they are required by state standards or as part of a reproductive health course from which parents can choose to exclude their children.

The proposal, introduced by DeSantis' Department of Education, goes even further than right-wing Florida lawmakers' current push to expand the law through grade 8 and does not require legislative approval. The state Board of Education—controlled by appointees of DeSantis and his predecessor, U.S. Sen Rick Scott (R-Fla.)—is set to vote on the measure at its April 19 meeting.

"Everything he does is about what can further his own career ambitions," Brandon Wolf of Equality Florida told The Associated Press on Wednesday, referring to DeSantis. "And it's clear he sees the anti-LGBTQ movement as his vehicle to get him where he wants to go."

DeSantis is no dummy, even if he often plays one for the cameras. Current Florida law says that somebody holding office in the state must resign that office if they run for a different office.
BREAKING:

Ron DeSantis waited until the media was fully consumed with Trump’s indictment to make a move to repeal Florida’s resign-to-run law, which prevents current public officials from seeking other offices while serving in their current office.

Oh, what an unexpected development.

'DeSantis' "Florida blueprint" wipes the LGBTQ community off the map'
On Wednesday, The Florida Board of Education approved an extension to Gov. Ron DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay" agenda that will enforce a ban on classroom instruction or discussion on sexual orientation and gender identity through the 12th grade.

These new regulations will go into effect in one month after a "procedural comment period."

In addition to the classroom ban, the Florida House of Representatives passed three additional bills further targeting transgender youth, drag shows and transgender medical care.

In response to this attack on the LGBTQ+ community, Equality Florida, the state's leading LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, issued a statement saying:
The GOP-led legislature has made clear that they see their role as little more than a rubber stamp for the anti-LGBTQ, anti-freedom agenda of Governor Ron DeSantis. Today, the House passed bills that will rip health insurance and Telehealth access away from transgender people, dissolve child custody agreements, forcibly detransition transgender young people, target small businesses and municipalities that dare to host drag performances, and empower people to monitor one another's genitals to ensure they are in the "right bathroom." Free states don't wield the power of government against the people. Free states don't criminalize health care or terrorize small business owners. The damage that DeSantis and his legislative cronies have done to Florida will outlast their career ambitions. Shame on Republican lawmakers for plunging our state into right wing chaos in service to one man with a desperation to be President.
"Gender ideology has no place in our K through 12 school system," DeSantis said on Wednesday in a quote obtained from CNN. "It's wrong for a teacher to tell a student that they may have been born in the wrong body or that their gender is a choice and so we don't let that happen in Florida."

I think deSantis ruined it with his Disney thing. Big Business in Florida. He is losing funds.

I keep thinking on and off they may have a candidate. But it just comes back to Trump and Biden every time.
