All sides of US politics have been known to gerrymander if given the opportunity. The clear solution is to put all electoral boundaries, state or federal, in the hands of an independent Electoral Commission...

The trouble Jim "independent" is something that Americans equate with corruption. The solution is not to have boundaries. Have PR in the whole state. State government should represent the result. For Federal election just count the votes in the states together. The big problem is nobody has a clue who lives where and the whole registration system is fucked.

Joe Biden declines to support the legalization of cannabis on the federal level.

'Biden says he won't legalize marijuana because it may be a "gateway drug"'

Former Vice President Joe Biden defended his reasoning to not legalize marijuana on a federal level if elected president, saying there is not “enough evidence” as to “whether or not it is a gateway drug.”

Speaking at a town hall in Las Vegas on Saturday, the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate said whether the U.S. should legalize cannabis on a federal level is still up for debate as far as he is concerned.

“The truth of the matter is, there’s not nearly been enough evidence that has been acquired as to whether or not it is a gateway drug,” Biden said, according to Business Insider. “It’s a debate, and I want a lot more before I legalize it nationally. I want to make sure we know a lot more about the science behind it.”

Given that he's long supported severe penalties for possession of cannabis, including in the 1994 crime bill that he co-authored (source), this isn't really a surprise. It just happens that Biden incorrect. The article linked below lists several sources which show that the 'gateway drug' idea is nothing but empty rhetoric.
