Does the Netherlands not have tariffs, import duties, value added taxes, consumption tax and other levies, like on agricultural products and manufactured goods from the US?

Who knew that the EU was risking setting off a trade war and plunging the world economy into another Great Depression when it raised tariffs on Chinese steel in 2016.... https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... albot-tata - looks like the EU was concerned that China was dumping cheap steel on the market, causing price reductions which hurt European steel production and resulted in a reduction in that industry and a loss of jobs.

Good thing the economists wrote that letter to the EU, warning them that tariffs of up to 73% were a real threat to the global economy. Trump's tariffs of 25% on steel imports, and 10% on aluminum, they dwarf the EU's tariffs.

Europe renewed tariffs on steel pipes from China, up to 72% - https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-03- ... es-high-72 (economists are rightly outraged - they know not what they do!)

The US should not have tariffs, because that would be crazy economic policy. The EU's tariffs are carefully crafted, and well-intended, so they're fine.

USA sucks! Raising import taxes 10% here and 24% there! My god! Think of the world economy! Trump will plunge us into a great depression!

EU raises taxes up to 73%, and it's fine. Nothing to see here!

Trump set to benefit as Qatar buys $6.5m apartment in New York tower
The acquisition by the Middle Eastern state came soon after a lawsuit that tried to stop president benefiting from such deals was dismissed

The government of Qatar bought a $6.5m apartment in one of Donald Trump’s New York towers soon after the dismissal of a lawsuit that tried to stop the president benefiting from such deals.

Qatar’s mission to the United Nations signed a deal for the condominium at Trump World Tower on 17 January, according to city records. The purchase means that the Middle Eastern state now owns four units in the building, for which it paid $16.5m.

On 21 December, a federal judge in New York had thrown out a lawsuit from ethics campaigners alleging that Trump was breaching the emoluments clause of the US constitution by collecting tens of thousands of dollars in charges from Qatar each year for the three apartments it already owned in the building.

Qatar’s new acquisition at Trump World Tower, which is in Manhattan’s Midtown East section, coincided with an intense lobbying campaign in Washington by the Qatari government amid a regional crisis that has pitted the Gulf monarchy against Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

I heard Jimmy Carter's peanut farm continued to farm and sell peanuts during his Presidency, operated by Carter's then 77 year old mother, and his drunken brother Billy of "Billy Beer" marketing:

Oh, the emoluments!

When Carter divested himself of the peanut farm, that was just a sham, right?

Goldangit, Neil Cavuto has followed Shepard Smith to the Dark Side. Fox News needs to clean house. :sulk:

"Fox's Cavuto on pattern of false statements: 'Mr. President, that’s your swamp'"
Fox News host Neil Cavuto on Thursday scolded President Trump for making contradictory statements about a payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, calling the president’s habit of making inaccurate statements his “swamp.”

“Let me be clear, Mr. President. How can you drain the swamp if you’re the one that keeps muddying the waters? You didn’t know about the $130,000 payment to a porn star until you did,” Cavuto said.

“You said you knew nothing about your lawyer Michael Cohen handling this, until acknowledging today you were the guy behind the retainer payment that took care of this,” he continued. “You insist that money from the campaign or campaign contributions played no role in this transaction. Of that you’re sure. The thing is, not 24 hours ago, sir, you couldn’t recall any of this. And you seemed very sure.”

“I’m not saying you’re a liar,” Cavuto added. “You’re a president, you’re busy. I’m having a devil of a time figuring out which news is fake. Let’s just say that your own words on lots of stuff gave me lots of pause."

Cavuto then ran through a long list of claims that Trump has made that have later been proven to be false or were inaccurate or unsubstantiated in the first place.

Among the items were Trump’s claims that Russians didn’t interfere in the 2016 presidential election, that the new GOP tax law would cost him a “fortune” and that he had signed more bills at that point of his presidency than any of his predecessors.

“None of this makes what you say fake. Just calling out the press for being so, a bit of a stretch,” Cavuto said.

“But more oftentimes they’re using your own words to bash you. Your base probably might not care. But you should,” he continued. “I guess you’re too busy draining the swamp to ever stop and smell the stink you’re creating. That’s your doing. That’s your stink, Mr. President. That’s your swamp.”

Trump calls Giuliani a liar. You know, it doesn't matter what anyone says about Trump, they're always wrong.

Trump says knives as bad as guns, and messier!
”Using a familiar conservative argument to defend gun ownership, Trump asked sarcastically whether vans, trucks and cars, which have been used by terrorists, should be banned. Then he turned to knives.

“I recently read a story that in London, which has unbelievably tough gun laws, a once very prestigious hospital, right in the middle, is like a war zone for horrible stabbing wounds,” he said. “Yes, that’s right, they don’t have guns, they have knives and instead there’s blood all over the floors of this hospital. They say it’s as bad as a military war zone hospital.”

Better to blow their brains out with a gun!
