Is that supposed to be some newly discovered thing? Cheeses fucking crust, Facebook has been known to sell such data for years.Brian Peacock wrote:'Utterly horrifying': ex-Facebook insider says covert data harvesting was routine.

With Amazon people think the books they download for their little Kindle that they own them. They dont they rent them. Amazon removes them from its cloud without notice.

Re: Is Facebook killing freedom and liberty?
I went on facebook about five to ten years ago.
I was on it for one day. Within hours, it became obvious what they were up to, with the information they were trying to get.
I closed it the same day.
I did go back on, with a false name and ID soon after, so that I can open facebook links that I'm given.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

how so, I mean, they analyse any product you look at or buy up, but they don't make a whole commercial profile about you from your messages to your family and pictures posted by your friends where you happen to be...cronus wrote:Amazon is even worse. (not shorting a dodgy market or anything)

It'll either fold or go 100% evil now with every dirty trick in the tech manual to make money. A return to irritating random pop-up ad culture etc...easier and more lucrative to go evil.

You have been fortunate. In my wife's book club plenty of women have lost books. My wife does not use a Kindle of course. She uses the far superior KOBO Aura 1. It uses 19 different formats. 7.8 inch screen with special night lighting.JimC wrote:Well, I've still got all the books I ever downloaded onto my Kindle, and I've had it for years...Scot Dutchy wrote:With Amazon people think the books they download for their little Kindle that they own them. Yeah, what Dutchy says is right. Well it was a few years ago. I assume it is still the case. There was a lots stink created when this first started happening.

Re: Is Facebook killing freedom and liberty?
It is also the reason Amazon restricts Kindle to one format. Amazon just loves control.
