Definitely. This latest incident is every bit as much of a horror and a tragedy as all the others, and the thought of what those parents, siblings, family and friends are going through is truly appalling, but this doesn't happen anywhere else guys. You've got to start voting for people who take this seriously - of whatever stripe they are - and this 'right to bear arms' business needs dragging into the 21st century.

There are gun control measures that most Americans support that Republicans in congress refuse to get on board with. Universal background checks, for example, has something like 94% support. The banning of "assault style weapons", bump stocks, and high capacity magazines also have majority support. So while it is true that a lot of Americans have a fondness for guns, some of the blame lies with our lobbying system and unresponsive government.

How about we talk about who is actually doing the mass shootings? It's young, white, teenaged males. It's not women, black males, old dudes, kindergarten kids - it's fucked up teenagers. Where are they getting the fucking guns? This last one bought his legally, because we think 18 year olds have the maturity to do that. Fuck that shit. You should be at LEAST 25 to own any sort of gun, because prior to that your brain hasn't developed. Others get them from home because their parents are irresponsible assholes. Stop molly-coddling the little fuckers and treating them like adults. If you're underage and get caught with a gun outside an adult's supervision you go to jail till you're old enough to act like a fucking human. If you're an adult who lets a kid get hold of your weapon YOU go to jail for being fucking moron. If they start posting aggressive shit on social media and acting all squirrely put them in the nut house where they belong.

Honestly, the vast majority of bad criminal shit is done by young males so concentrate on them. I don't give a fuck if it's sexist, it's the fucking truth. Quit telling me I can't own a weapon because some fucking idiot child can't be trusted, try keeping a lid on the little shits.

Stop selling guns to anyone with the money to buy one. Put some teeth into the background check laws. Confiscate weapons from anyone convicted of any sort of violent or even property crime. If you've been vandalizing your neighbors car then you can never own a weapon. Hell, you get your driving license suspended then you can't be trusted with a weapon.

Stop fucking around and get serious about it or you're going to see this happening over and over again.

Now we can't have a conversation with the "other side" since there isn't anybody here that holds that absolute or near absolute view. How many more children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers have to be randomly strafed in their schools before politicians realise that doing something about it is supposed to be exactly what they're elected for? If this had been the 8th terror attack of the year rather than just the 8th US school shooting the outrage of politicians would be palpable and impossible to miss. So why are they not only not outraged by yet another avoidable loss of innocent life but they're actively telling everyone else that there's absolutely no need to be outraged by this either?

Because ideology (freedum) triumphs pragmatics in the US. Those dead kids (and all the rest of the dead) are a price the ideologues are willing to pay for the receipt of freedom.
