FBI Opens New Investigation into Clinton Pay-for-Play Crimes

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/36 ... estigation
The Justice Department has launched a new inquiry into whether the Clinton Foundation engaged in any pay-to-play politics or other illegal activities while Hillary Clinton served as Secretary of State, law enforcement officials and a witness tells The Hill.

FBI agents from Little Rock, Ark., where the Foundation was started, have taken the lead in the investigation and have interviewed at least one witness in the last month, and law enforcement officials said additional activities are expected in coming weeks.

The officials, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, said the probe is examining whether the Clintons promised or performed any policy favors in return for largesse to their charitable efforts or whether donors made commitments of donations in hopes of securing government outcomes.

The probe may also examine whether any tax-exempt assets were converted for personal or political use and whether the Foundation complied with applicable tax laws, the officials said.

One witness recently interviewed by the FBI described the session to The Hill as “extremely professional and unquestionably thorough” and focused on questions about whether donors to Clinton charitable efforts received any favorable treatment from the Obama administration on a policy decision previously highlighted in media reports.

Hillary Clinton's chief spokesman Nick Merrill on Friday morning excoriated the FBI for re-opening the case, calling the probe "disgraceful" and suggesting it was nothing more than a political distraction from President Trump's Russia controversies.

"Let’s call this what it is: a sham," Merrill said. "This is a philanthropy that does life-changing work, which Republicans have tried to turn into a political football. It began with a now long-debunked project spearheaded by Steve Bannon during the presidential campaign. It continues with Jeff Sessions doing Trump’s bidding by heeding his calls to meddle with a department that is supposed to function independently."
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

US DOJ Opens New Investigation Into Clinton Security Breach

US DOJ Opens New Investigation Into Clinton Security Breach

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/justi ... le/2644956 and https://www.circa.com/story/2018/01/04/ ... ons-emails

And, https://www.investors.com/politics/edit ... stigation/
An early draft of former FBI Director James Comey’s statement closing out the Hillary Clinton email case accused the former secretary of State of having been “grossly negligent” in handling classified information, newly reported memos to Congress show.

The tough language was changed to the much softer accusation that Clinton had been “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information when Comey announced in July 2016 there would be no charges against her.

The change is significant, since federal law states that gross negligence in handling the nation’s intelligence can be punished criminally with prison time or fines.

Maybe Comey and team meant grossly negligent in the 'extremely careless' sense rather than in the specifically criminal sense, and the language was changed to reflect that fact? What other language was changed, and in how many drafts, and how many people contributed to the text?

My guess is that if nothing comes of this the right will call foul and continue to impugn the integrity and independence of the FBI. There is only one possible just outcome for the right here, isn't there?

Huma Abedin is gorgeous and I want to make sex with her. That's all I have to say about Hillbilly Clanton.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

JimC or any other moderator: What gives? Why would you take two news, politics and current events threads on two completely different issues, and put them in one "talk about Hillary Thread." There are at least half a dozen threads dealing with Donald Trump and new ones are created from time to time.

Merging the two threads (one about "pay-for-play" and the other about "security breach of confidential information") makes it very difficult to deal with the substance of each of those investigations. Why would they be merged?

Is it because some forum members don't want certain topics discussed?

This looks like a concerted effort to simply kill a conversation that could take place. These are not the same topics -- so if someone posts a development on the pay-for-play scandal, it's going to be intermixed with general Hillary posts, sarcastic comments peppered in about how we shouldn't be joking about Hillary or how Hillary is not relevant anymore since she's not President, etc. -- and hosts of other topics about Hillary Clinton, including the old scandals about and her various lies and other defalcations. It makes for a very muddled discussion.

Can someone help me out here and explain this merger?

I think all instances of traitors abusing the power of the state to persecute a member of the previous administration should go in a single thread myself.

That's sort of prejudging the issue, innit?

I mean, surely, it is possible that Hillary Clinton is the subject of a proper inquiring on these issues, no?

I have been around long enough to know that what is possible and what is probable are often two very different things.
