Coup Blimey!

Post by rainbow » Wed Nov 15, 2017 6:19 am

To both our people and the world beyond our borders: We wish to make it abundantly clear that this is not a military takeover of Government. What the Zimbabwe Defence Forces is doing is to pacify a degenerating political‚ social and economic situation in our country which if not addressed may result in violent conflict.

Harare - Dismissed former Zimbabwean Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has landed Manyame Airforce Base to take control of the country’s government, a source told African News Agency on Wednesday but this could not be officially confirmed.

There are also unconfirmed reports that 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe, his wife Grace, and other members of his close political circle are under house arrest.

Mnangagwa, known as “The Crocodile” was sacked last week amid a row over leadership in the ruling Zanu-PF Part of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe. Mnangagwa, a veteran of the country’s liberation struggle against white domination, fled to South Africa after death threats.

13:01 Meanwhile, Grace Mugabe might have gotten out of the country already…opposition MP Eddie Cross told BBC News that he believes First Lady Grace Mugabe has fled to Namibia. The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) politician said that he understood she had been allowed to leave the country last night by the army. Exiling herself was kind of limited because, you know, most countries don’t like her and she allegedly assaulted a model in South Africa. The army has not confirmed any of this, though.

So who's taken over the TV stations? That's when you know it's a real coup.

Zimbabwe's state broadcaster has interrupted its programming to air an apology by the ruling party's youth leader to army commanders for "denigrating" them.

Kudzanai Chipanga says the statement he made earlier this week attacking the military did not originate with him.

He also said he was making his public apology without coercion.

He says that "by this big mistake we have learned a lot".

Zimbabwe's army early Wednesday announced that President Robert Mugabe and his family were under house arrest.

I predict it might be soon nearly as difficult to find a Zimbabwean that actually supported Mugabe, as it would be to find a German that followed Hitler, or a white South African that believed in Apartheid.
