Will North Korea Be A New Vietnam?

Post by cronus » Fri Nov 10, 2017 9:38 am

Whilst Trump is there...the question seems obvious. Although it should be unnecessary as the regime will collapse at some point without any intervention given it's tyrannical form. Will North Korea Be A New Vietnam? Given Trump? Isn't small team espionage, keyhole surgery, a smarter way to deal with errant nuclear programmes compared with land invasion?

What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

The American response to Vietnam grew out of the domino theory doctrine - that international communism would knock over one SE Asian country after another. It is one reason the USA spent so many resources on the war. The North wanted a unified Vietnam and more. NK is really only interested in survival and has no serious ambitions to expand its sphere of influence. So no it won't. Which is not to say there won't be war. If there is it would be an utter catastrophe and would kill millions in short order, so let us hope not. But it wouldn't be another Vietnam.

Vietnam didn't have nuclear weapons.

Or a highly valued ally of the US right next door, that could be blasted to bits in minutes.

So North Korea is a lot more complicated. I don't know what they could try. North Korea is still at war with the South. They can regard any action as an act of war and respond instantly against ten million targets in Seoul.

Trump is brilliant with his NK approach. China is terrified lol. Oh, and Fat Boy had his brother killed because China was going to have him replaced.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Justifying buying weapons. The 1% loves the threat of war.

Of course there will not be war. Why would there be?

There will be a war. But I don't think Trump will have the balls to start it.
Loony fat boy will of course start it off. It's what loonies do.

And loonies who are brought up as loonies are the worst kind. I suppose the US has no real intention of firing the first shot. They will wait till it happens, and then blame China for enabling it, and South Korea for refusing to countenance a pre-emptive strike. And they will be right.

Of course, what they are HOPING for, is a coup by some slightly saner generals. It doesn't look very likely.
Being sane would get you killed in NK.
