The gay men turning to the far right in Germany

Bremen, Germany (CNN)Karsten P. empties a test tube filled with metal pieces into the palm of his hand. They're the tiny screws and bolts that held his face together after he and his partner Sven were violently assaulted in a life-changing attack outside their local store.

Two surgeries later and fearful of being attacked again, the openly gay 52-year-old taxi driver -- who doesn't want to be identified because of concerns of another attack -- avoids public spaces and always takes pepper spray with him. He and his partner have also been forced to move neighborhoods in the northwest German city of Bremen following mounting costs as a result of being injured.

"I went outside and saw someone kicking my partner's head. I was trying to stop him and right at that moment, I got hit from the side," Karsten recalls about the attack. "I kind of lost consciousness and when I got up again, I thought my partner was dead. He was all covered in blood and he didn't move at all."

Police identified the attackers as two locally known Muslim extremists. They were never arrested and later fled to Syria. After demanding answers from local prosecutors and the mayor's office and not getting a response, Karsten turned to Germany's far right party, the Alternative for Germany (AfD).

"I don't like everything they say," Karsten says, "but this is too dangerous for gay people to live openly here, if we get attacked like that. We need a party that's talking openly about this."

I'd expect that on the hierarchy of hate, gay guys would only be slightly less hated than Muslims by these far right types.

I think a lot of the hard right activists are gay.

They certainly look gay to me, on their marches. Mind you, I've never been good at spotting who's gay.
Why can't they wear one single earring on the right ear? That used to be the sign years ago. Or so I was told.
Those muslims knew what to look for though.

I think there would have been a much bigger fuss in Germany, if it was muslims getting beaten up.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Probably doesn't help that the left prefers to focus its attacks on the only nation in the Middle East that respects gay rights. Certainly does not inspire any confidence that gay rights are near the top of the left's agenda anyway.

Thing is even after the war and millions of muslimics freed from being caked into the German autobahns, any gay nazis would still feel bad and worse over the following years as progressive values infiltrated the muslimic world and they developed their own gay scene in the middle east.... :coffee:

I'm going to try to deconstruct the above:

Millions of Muslims freed from German oppression in 1945 (they were at risk of being crushed and used as road making material).
Gay Nazis still feel bad as liberal values spread in the Muslim world.
Gay scene in Middle East devel..

...nope sorry - I give up.

Marine Le Pen's part has a certain rainbow popularity too.

Lefty liberals loving muzzies is driving the rainbows over to the far right. Sometimes I just don't know what to think lol.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
