Looks like a good reason to prosecute and convict them. Good!

However, just as the violence of the leftist radicals does not warrant silencing leftists, this is not a justification to censor Richard Spencer. The article you linked to goes too far, and it's a "be careful what you wish for" scenario. If you can shut down Richard Spencer because a guy fires a shot at a protester, then you can censor antifa because an antifa professor hits someone with a bike lock or a broken bottle.

These are not groups to be acted against as groups. These are groups of individuals, and the individuals are responsible for their own actions. Everyone has the right to spew their bullshit. Nobody has the right to engage in violence. Prosecute the criminals, and let the bullshit spewers spew their bullshit.
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

But of course we shouldn't forget that there's good people on both sides. :tea:

It looks as if the issue of whether universities in the US can refuse to provide a venue for white supremacists is going to be litigated.

'Injunction sought so white nationalist Richard Spencer can speak at Penn State'
A Georgia State University student wants a federal judge to order Penn State to lease him space so white nationalist Richard Spencer can speak at the University Park campus.

Cameron Padgett identifies himself in the complaint filed Thursday in U.S. Middle District Court as an individual who subscribes to the identitarian philosophy. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, identitarians preach opposition to multiculturalism and advocate for separate regions and nations that, within their borders, are culturally and ethnically homogenous.

The senior at Georgia State says he does not consider himself alt-right but supports Spencer and is the organizer of his collegiate speaking tour.

The basis of the lawsuit against the Penn State President Eric J. Barron and the board of trustees is the university's refusal to honor Padgett's July request to rent a conference room or lecture hall for an appearance by Spencer.

In August, Barron released statement in which he said Spencer was not welcome on the Penn State campus in light of violence in Charlottesville, Va., during a "unite the right" protest rally.

Barron said although Penn State supports the right of free speech, "the First Amendment does not require our university to risk imminent violence."

Spencer's views are "abhorrent and contradictory to our university's values," he said. "There is no place for hatred, bigotry or racism in our society and on our campuses."

Padgett contends the refusal to rent a conference or lecture hall for fear of violence constitutes unconstitutional content discrimination.
'Ohio State denies request to have Richard Spencer speak on campus'
Ohio State University has denied a request to rent space for prominent white nationalist Richard Spencer to speak on campus, citing public safety concerns in the wake of Spencer's appearance at the University of Florida earlier this week.

“The university has deemed that it is not presently able to accommodate Mr. [Cameron] Padgett’s request to rent space at the university due to substantial risk to public safety, as well as material and substantial disruption to the work and discipline of the university,” a lawyer representing Ohio State said in a letter to an attorney representing Spencer’s associates and obtained by The Guardian.

Earlier Friday, a lawyer for Spencer said he would file a federal lawsuit against the university if it denied a request for Spencer to speak on campus.

WOSU reports that Ohio State senior vice president Christopher Culley told Michigan attorney Kyle Bristow last week that the university could not accommodate a request to rent space, but the lawyer held off suing while the school looked into "other alternatives."

Bristow told WOSU he is seeking an injunction to force the school to rent space for Spencer’s speech.

I can't imagine not being embarrassed to address a university audience with views that fucking dumb.

Do you think he's just smart enough to recognize the power of ignoring such embarrassment? It's amazing how far a bit of courage and a lot of accidents can get you, eh?

Spencer knows exactly what he's doing. By getting refused a platform he and his ilk can claim they are an oppressed minority. His kind honestly believe their position is equal to other minority positions and should be afforded similar protections.

Not surprising when you have scum all over the radio and on shows like InfoWars calling for Civil War 2.
