Nice behind a paywall on the torygraph.
Do you really think the German car industry is worried by Brexit. It is another Brexiteer's wet dream.

Germany sells one in seven of its cars in the UK. Its biggest customer.

6 are sold elsewhere. Will people stop buying BMW in the UK? Is the pope a catholic? Of course they will. What else are they going to buy?Rum wrote:Germany sells one in seven of its cars in the UK. Its biggest customer.

If tariffs are imposed sales will drop - it is pretty obvious.

I'm sure a special arrangement will be struck - there'll be blood on the streets if all those middle managers have to forego their Audis, Beamers, and Mercs.

I'm not sure any manufacturer these days can claim to be of one nationality. Parts are made and shipped all over the world, companies have been bought and sold and so on. All the UK biggies of yore belong to companies based elsewhere now I think except for niche market products.Svartalf wrote:are there still any british carmakers to benefit from the tariffs?Rum wrote:If tariffs are imposed sales will drop - it is pretty obvious.

Exactly. Those middle managers never buy them anyway. The company is charged. How would look at the golf club?Brian Peacock wrote:I'm sure a special arrangement will be struck - there'll be blood on the streets if all those middle managers have to forego their Audis, Beamers, and Mercs.

Don't knock the Robin Reliant. It rolls down the road really well.Brian Peacock wrote:"I say George, what are you driving at the moment?"

And easily too.
