His body must be a temple...

Mine is more like a run-down gin joint, masquerading as a community centre...
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?

His body may be a temple, but his soul is a sewer.

And if the Lord should chose to strike him down with a painful and debilitating affliction he'll only have himself to blame.

BTW: happy birthday Joe :awesome:

Thanks Brian, it's funny how anybody can get a debilitating illness.

People like Brooks never seem to realize the role luck plays in our lives.

It probably unreasonable to expect anything else from the superstitious. The idea that the bad things that happen to us are a punishment for wrong doing or sin has a long and established history. Whether it's Freddy Phelps saying that 9/11 was a punishment for sodomy or some Republican evangelical equating illness with moral turpitude, it all basically comes from the same place.

"Democrats and Republicans are also working on a modest package of bills intended to lower health care costs."
Yeah right.

Here's an idea Democrats. State fund all US healthcare, free at the point of delivery for everybody, and with the money that you'll save give a tax break to low income families.

Just putting that out there.

If people want choice then let them take out private insurance - but they carry the full costs of it and don't get to offset it against tax. Let the rich pay extra for extra physio or convenience in pastel coloured private rooms where the lawns are tidy and the gardener calls you Sir or Madam if they want - let them have private elective surgery, but they have to cover the cost including the intensive care bed when things go South.

I'm serious though - the economic argument is a no-brainer. You'd spend less as a nation and the savings could be passed as tax cuts for the working poor. That's the way to get people talking about how it could be something worth trying.

This is America. Make it tax cuts for the rich, and it might have a chance...
