Oh, he has charisma, but that does not run a country. What the Labour Party needs is someone with the integrity of Corbyn coupled with the charisma of Blair. I don't see anyone to fit that bill...

I don't know much about the specifics of UK domestic policy and what bad stuff Blair was into. But, he always struck me, back when he was PM, that he was so very well-spoken. I used to watch him on the Parliamentary Question Time, where he was answering pointed questions posed to him by the MPs, and I thought he was a great to listen to and he came across as quite intelligent.

There has been a dearth of good communicators in American politics, so I have wished that we would have folks who spoke like Blair. Obama is a great speaker, as was Bill Clinton. Hillary was horrible, and Trump is terrible, and W. Bush was awful, and his dad was crappy. The last good Republican speaker was Ronald Raygun. Romney at least spoke like he had done it before.

What gives me good feels about Blair, though, was his reaction after 9/11/01. He came right to the side of W, and pledged, not just to help, or do what he could - he pledged to stand "shoulder-to-shoulder" with the United States. I thought that was great.

I agree. I pine for a great orator...one who doesn't need a teleprompter or a speech writer.
