Britain First have been holding an 'activist training camp' in the Welsh mountains

Members of Britain First have been in the Welsh mountains holding what they described as an “activist training camp”.

A dozen people took part in the camp in the mountains of Snowdonia, where they said they learned things including self-defence, martial arts, knife defence, survival techniques, rough camping and mountain climbing.

Describing their “knife defence” class, they wrote: “Knife defence and self defence is crucial to keeping our activists safe. Knives are prevalent in our society. We never want trouble but we refuse to leave our activists exposed.”

They even had time to enjoy a visit to Dolbadarn Castle to round off a weekend described as full of “camaraderie”.

Britain First describes itself as a “loyalist” movement, with members who are “loyal to Queen and country” welcome to join.

It regularly posts Islamophobic sentiments to its Facebook page.

Labour MP Jo Cox in critical condition after being shot and stabbed

Jo Cox, the MP for Batley and Spen, is in a critical condition after being shot and stabbed multiple times in her West Yorkshire constituency.

Armed officers responded to the attack near a library in Birstall on Thursday afternoon, and a 52-year-old man was arrested in the area, police confirmed.

They added that the Labour politician had suffered “serious injuries and is in a critical condition”. She has been taken by helicopter to Leeds general infirmary.

Police also confirmed a man in his late 40s to early 50s nearby suffered slight injuries in the incident.

Witnesses said the attack was launched after the MP became involved in an altercation involving two men near her weekly advice surgery. A Labour source confirmed Cox was shot and stabbed after she had concluded the drop-in session for constituents at around 1pm.

She chairs the all-party parliamentary group for Friends of Syria, and was vocal in making the case for military action in the country last autumn, on humanitarian ground

Graeme Howard, 38, who lives in nearby Bond Street, told the Guardian he heard the man shout “Britain First” before the shooting and during the arrest.

I know what you mean. We have a robust, and sometimes very snarky political environment, but this, if it is political, is just beyond anything anyone could or should expect. People are posting various pictures of her smiling on Twitter at the moment - very poignant.

Apparently he was a loner, probably a nut. Unlike multiple folks who get organised and kill for political purposes who are packets of nuts.

Which is the dumbest response imaginable. Banning and censorship like that makes political assassinations far more likely. Dark times are ahead here. This is going to get a lot worse.

Apparently it was a dodgy Muslim who said he shouted 'Britain first' and no one else heard it....so maybe that aspect was a bit of deliberate, on the spot, misdirection? Could be simply a nut with a gun and no rational motive....still a bad lot Britain first though. Probably in Wales seeking out their spiritual leader Nick Griffin?
