The future of the NHS in Britain?

Child deaths in Priory hospitals provoke calls to cancel NHS contract
The death of a 14-year-old girl after failures by staff is the latest in a series at the private mental healthcare company

It was a heartbreaking moment. Tearful jury members embraced a bereaved mother after hearing how her 14-year- old daughter had died neglected at the Priory Ticehurst House hospital in East Sussex, one of the country’s most expensive private hospitals, which was being paid to care for her by the NHS. It is the latest indictment of the state of child mental health care in this country. Questions are now being raised about both the Priory Group – Britain’s biggest private mental health provider – and the way private companies are receiving millions of pounds from public funds each year to care for nearly half the NHS’s child mental health patients.

Mental health is operating a policy of eugenics by neglect. It always has done in the UK. Even in good times it is the Cinderella service. The suicide rate is massive in the UK and saves the government tonnes of money in unpaid welfare for people who'll never contribute. Obviously most people here love their pets though and animal charities are widely supported. This isn't news.

Not the best way to run a world, either. :read:

The electorate roundly rejected at the ballot box the only party that put investment in mental health care at the centre of its campaign. People get the government and the NHS they deserve.

The public generally reject anyone who wants to increase taxes but expects public service spending to go up.
While many politicans are complete tossers that doesn't compare to how thoroughly unpleasant the general public is

It was suicide. That was her choice. She was old enough to concent for an abortion, she's old enough to take her own life.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
