So, Russia again!
LONDON — Labour MPs are ratcheting up pressure on the government to reveal whether Russia interfered in the EU referendum.

Former culture secretary Ben Bradshaw told Business Insider that the "public has a right to know" if the Kremlin attempted to influence the outcome of the Brexit vote in June last year.

He is concerned that Prime Minister Theresa May’s government is not being transparent enough about the issue — particularly now there is acceptance in the US and other European nations that Russia has attempted to meddle in democratic decisions, he said.

Organised stupidity won both the Brexit and the US election. All I can say, being over a certain age, is that stupidity does not organise itself. :coffee:

The Dutch election will be completely counted by hand. I suppose the Stoke by-election was too small to influence which is why UKIP did so badly.

UKIP did badly in Stoke because their on the ground organisation is shockingly bad.

European parliament will veto Brexit deal with early cut-off date for free movement

Exclusive: MEPs are concerned about UK’s expectations as socialist leader rules out discrimination among EU citizens

The European parliament will veto any Brexit deal that prevents EU citizens who move to the UK during the next two years from having the same rights to live and work in Britain as those already in the country.

The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, and MEPs are understood to be concerned by reports that the British government wants 29 March, when it officially notifies the EU of its intention to leave, to be the “cut-off date” for the free movement of people.

he issue was discussed at a meeting between Barnier and senior MEPs on Monday night. A five-page resolution detailing the European parliament’s red lines, which will be voted on next Wednesday, was subsequently amended specifically to rule out any “degradation” of the rights of EU nationals arriving in the UK over the next two years.

Sir Tim Barrow, the UK’s permanent representative to the EU, will deliver a letter triggering article 50 talks at 12.30pm on Wednesday, after which the clock is ticking on the two years of talks allowed under the treaty of Lisbon.

It has been repeatedly reported that the British government believes that 29 March 2017 is the appropriate date after which EU nationals moving to the UK would have rights different from those already in the country, although government officials say publicly that that is a matter for the negotiations....

So it all kicks off tomorrow then.

What do those people who repeatedly claimed it will never happen have to say now?

Nothing will happen for at least six weeks. Once again the UK is showing great diplomacy in dealing with the EU. It thinks it can call the shots. The poor fools.

Well, it can, can't it? What is the EU going to do? Send them a strongly worded letter?

So, they veto it? Once the Brits are out, they can revoke any visa status of folks who came in after March 29, if that's what they want to do. They can't compel the UK to stay in. The UK does not need the EU's permission to leave.

cut them off all the treaties as soon as art 50 is invoked... before then, the UK has all the benefits AND obligations of its membership, after that, all they can do is try to control the damage.
