Puppies rescued in raids against Queensland dog fighting rings
More than 50 dogs have been rescued and crucial evidence gathered after four Queensland properties were raided in the past week, with the RSPCA declaring "the first major breakthrough in over 10 years" against dog fighting.
The search warrants, executed by RSPCA inspectors and Queensland police, targetted two properties in Logan, one in Redland City and another in Richmond in the state's north-west.
RSPCA spokesman Michael Beatty said a total of 56 dogs were taken from the properties, with most of the animals believed to have already been used in dog fights because they were suffering from injuries consistent with dog fighting.
A collection of evidence was also seized including treadmills, breaking sticks, phones and other paraphernalia.
Mr Beatty said the raids signified the biggest breakthrough in the battle against dog fighting in Queensland in the past decade, but no charges had yet been laid....
