This beer has been my favourite for about the past 40 years. A refreshing drop, especially on hot days. The 5.8% alcohol content is not the strongest you can get, but it's easy to get sozzled if that's where you want to go. I got terribly smashed on it in November 2011 and again in June 2013.

I prefer one or two strong beers instead of litres of gnats piss. I prefer quality to quantity and never out a can.

I would, if I had the choice, drink draught Guinness and only in Dublin at the Temple Bar. Certain beers dont travel and any Guinness outside of Ireland is made from a concentrate under licence. The Guinness you and I get is made by Stella in Leuven. At a stretch it is drinkable and when visiting an Irish pub it is the only logical choice but the quality does vary immensely. In the South of Spain it was an apology whereas in Wein it was acceptable (but the pub was not as it looked as if a gang of navvies had a punch up the previous evening).

It's just a beer in the 2.5-3.5 % range. Sometimes called a 'session beer' - something you can drink over a long period of time without getting completely boloxd.

It used to be popular with the evangelicals and the gereformeerden because it was "table" beer. The men were were allowed to drink it on a Sunday between services. The women drank boerenjongens (raisons soaked in gin) or advocaat and cream and got quiently pissed.
