Under the media spotlight and known to millions if not hundreds of millions. Then 40 is not a high number. How come this latest hideous Svengali is the main star with a net worth of $400 million, and not a part time actor whose now out of work and on the bottle...of which there are doubtless hundreds?

Guilt by accusation? When you are worth hundreds of millions, an accusation is well worth a try.
He's actually counter-suing the seven. So presumably the other 33 are not suing him, so it's not worth counter-suing.

I hope he wins. If you can't be bothered to complain at the time, you're probably lying, or just stupid.
Either way, you don't deserve a mega-bucks payout.

way round : that is to say a rich and famous man taking advantage of ordinary women rather than them taking advantage of him

Of course that can happen. But, if you're as rich and famous as Bill Cosby, you have more to lose than the average man. And you will find it easier to get a replacement shag, if the one you're working on proves difficult.
Why would you risk a lucrative career, when plenty of other women are gagging for it?
You can bet your life that Cosby had a little black book with many hundreds of phone numbers.

Just speaking from personal experience, I've never been even close to forcing myself on a woman, and I've never had the pulling power of a Cosby. I think that if I did achieve that sort of status, it would make me more likely to take no for an answer, not less. For the reasons above.

But of course, there are guys out there who are just like that. And if they get rich and famous, I suppose it could make them more arrogant. It did with Mike Tyson. But then, when he raped a girl, she told people straight away. There was convincing evidence at the time. Not one person's story, thirty years later.

He's not suing women he raped, he's suing women who claim he raped them. Big difference.

I think he gets what was coming. He could have retained a leader role among blacks but now is really looking more like the black male stereotype: not taking responsibility. Bill had the education to make something of himself.

I have to agree with Seth.

Accusations mean nothing, when compensation is on the cards. You're innocent till proven guilty by facts. And forty nothings still equals nothing.

It might be different if there wasn't the glaringly obvious motive of money, for making an accusation.

If forty women accused someone who was totally broke, you might sit up and take notice. Especially if they didn't know that someone else had made a claim. But when one person claims abuse, and it's widely reported in the media, and then loads of others pile in, then to me, it stinks of a feeding frenzy of false claims.
