If they keep taking them, it will be a torrent.
These are all bogus refugees, taking advantage of a conflict to try to jump a queue into Europe.

If you are fleeing danger, that doesn't entitle you to continue on through safe countries, to the country of your choice. That should immediately disqualify you from refugee status.

This isn't going to go away. It's going to get a lot lot worse. The only answer is to remove the incentive.
Strict bans on working, and removing people to the first safe country that they initially moved through.

Merkle has taken the most ludicrous attitude, that is guaranteed to make it worse.
And now she's trying to shift the attention off HER stupidity, by demanding that other countries become equally stupid.

Do you actually know where Syria is? Do you really regard here as their only safe option?

That's the problem with Europe. People are just so fucking gullible.

If you bothered to look at a map, and see the teeny tiny area that is involved in a conflict, you might get a bit of the reality of what's happening.

Fleeing a conflict is fine, but as soon as you are out of the danger area, you're no longer fleeing.
Why the fuck do they need to "flee" Turkey? Or Hungary? They are safe there. They might have economic reasons to move on, but they are not "fleeing a conflict".

Which puts the vast majority in the bracket of economic migrants.
The REAL refugees are in camps, near the Syrian border, waiting till it's safe to go home.
I'm all for helping them. And they are getting help.

I agree 100% that you can't blame them. I would do the same myself.

If there was a luxurious mansion down the road, and the word was going round, that the owner was saying that, if you were having a hard time, you could just turn up and live there, and eventually get residency rights, I'd be gone in a flash.

Mugs like Merkle should never go to waste.

That seems to be the current standard of logic surrounding the migrant question.

It's a sho nuff conundrum, and that's a fact. There aren't enough jobs for our current population, and that's only going to get worse with increasing automation. Adding a whole bunch of ill educated (mostly) people who don't share the culture and have no experience in a democratic society is only going to exacerbate the situation. The previous waves of Islamic immigration haven't gone particularly swimmingly. But it's certainly hard to view images of drowning children.

Besides, maybe this is a plot by the World Caliphate. Get enough of them in and pretty soon it's time for the Sharia Shuffle.

The drowned baby is a good example of what I'm saying.

The family were Kurds, and were trying to get from Turkey, a safe country with a sizable Kurdish population, to Greece, a Christian country with no Kurdish heritage.

There was no safety element involved. Far from it. The parents put their kids out to sea in a tiny inflatable dinghy for nothing but economic reasons. They ought to be prosecuted for neglect.

All of the migrants landing on Kos ought to be returned to Turkey, and if Turkey refuses, they should suffer sanctions.
That would remove the incentive to risk the lives of children.
