You might be underestimating just how crazy the conservatives in this country have gotten. Being reasonable and competent is no longer a way to win a Republican primary election. Being angry, paranoid, hyperbolic and irrational is the way to the top.

I watched an 'interview' - Palin talking to Trump a few days ago. I'm sure my jaw dropped open in disbelief. If he gets the nomination I will only be able to conclude I fell asleep and woke in some weird and surreal alternative universe. Jesus Christ on a pogo stick!

That explains how bush the younger won, but trump is a quantum leap over that, and obviously not cut to be a statesman

That's what I'm saying. Conservatives in this country have made a quantum leap further into crazyland. They were already well into that trajectory, but being defeated twice by Barack Hussein Commie McDarkenstein has accelerated the process. Trump is the natural result of seven years' worth of irrational hissy-fits.

Come to think of it, most of the other Republican contenders are just as deplorable; they just don't have the stage appeal. Trump has been a public caricature for decades already.

It's hard to be effective when your opponents rule both houses.
And if Bush had been a bit more ineffective, we'd all be safer and better off now.
