Not only did the GOP controlled legislature abolish the death penalty, it did so over the GOP governor's veto.

In 2014, Nebraska also booted out an incumbent GOP congressman who'd held office for 16 years.

In 2012, Nebraska, a mostly red state, split its electoral vote, giving one vote to Obama

And it passed a referendum increasing minimum wage by huge margin.
