Whether many eople still believe the WMD lies is uncertain, but I know there are still lots of people in the USA who believe the Iraq war was justified.
How can a whole nation be so silly as to go off to war, for no justifiable cause?

Never particularly believed them, never really gave a shit. Georgie was gonna bomb somebody's ass, the Iraqis were as good as anyone else. How can you tell a politician is lying? Their lips are moving.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Arbitrary events in the past. We need to focus on the world today. It isn't necessary to know war is wrong based on history lessons when you accept it is wrong in principle.

What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

Look, there are people who believe that Elvis lives, the moon landings were faked, and that 9/11 was an inside job run by the same people they vilify as being otherwise incompetent.

Never understood how they think GWB was clever enough to pull off 9/11 but too stupid to plant a few WMDs.klr wrote:Look, there are people who believe that Elvis lives, the moon landings were faked, and that 9/11 was an inside job run by the same people they vilify as being otherwise incompetent.

A friend and I used to actually watch it as comedy. At the time it was War on Martha Stewart. So many stories about Martha Stewart. I'd never even heard of the bird.
And of course O'Reilly and Hannity. Man we used to laugh at those two.

The usual reply from those on the US right could include some or all of the following:
* It was an honest mistake; there was some evidence pointing that way, which was enough to justify the war even if it was wrong
* There were such weapons, but Saddam spirited them away before they could be discovered
* Even without them, Saddam needed to be overthrown anyway
* We can do whatever we fucking well like, we don't need your approval, pinko arsehole!

Re: Are there still people in Merka that believe the WMD lie
It was an honest mistake.
They believed that the Iraqi people would welcome them as saviours. The grateful Iraqis would award US companies fat oil contracts.
A stable Western democracy would serve as an example to the other Middle Eastern countries.
Nobody would question WMD with such a positive outcome.
Unfortunately like many wet dreams it ended in a sticky mess.

There are still people in America who believe storks bring babies. So yes OP, there has to be. I bet Tony Blair still believes it too.
