Name a Woman's Job!

Post by Xamonas Chegwé » Thu Oct 16, 2014 8:23 am

The Australian version of Family Feud is in hot water after asking contestants to "name something people think is a woman's job".

Personally, I see little wrong with the question per se. Their biggest mistake was underestimating the reaction it was bound to generate. Much of the outrage seems directed at the answers which were given by 100 Australians, presumably including women!

Oddly, nobody answered "Blow". :dunno:

Hitting kids. My dad was rubbish, but my mum could really make you wince.

Oh, and writing women's fiction. You know what I mean. We used to call them ''dumpers'' when I worked in the library on Saturdays, when I was at school.
Most books were indexed, but ''dumpers'' were just dumped on a table in the middle of a big room, and they would get devoured in minutes.

A man COULD write that stuff, but it's definitely a woman's job.

Women should be in the caring professions. It is true there are tomboys but they are more the exception than the rule. Traditional roles worked quite well. The glass ceiling protects women from making decisions that would appear cruel. There is nothing worse than seeing a woman cry because she had to let half the workforce go, knowing they ain't nowhere to go. The only thing is pay. This needs to be improved. The reason we have a state is to regulate things. Make pay for the caring professions similar to the male 'building things and stuff'. Women will not need to be pushed back to their traditional roles when they hold status, pay and conditions that are on level with mens interest in driving trains.

Would it be sexist to mention child bearing?

Beauty queen.

And don't tell me men can do it. I've got my fingers in my ears, and I'm not listening. I refuse to picture it.
