This Is How The Ebola Epidemic Might Spread If It's Not Contained
The 2014 West African Ebola Outbreak is now the largest and deadliest in history. But how far will it spread? Using the most recent data, a research team has created a computer simulation of its potential to reach around the globe, illustrating the urgency for containment.

Nigeria, in contrast, being the most populous country in West Africa with more than 166 million people, is well connected to the rest of world. For historical reasons, all these countries have the strongest ties with European countries."
To create the simulation, the researchers used the Global Epidemic and Mobility Model. The model considers daily airline passenger traffic worldwide, along with the potential rate of spread in communities, hospitals, and burials.

Re: This Is How The Ebola Epidemic Might Spread
i'm thinking that no one will take much interest until the death toll reaches 3000. then, maybe, they'll sit up and take notice, by which time it could well be a pandemic of mutated bug. oh joy, oh bliss.
open source the world.

These are poor third world blacks, need maybe 30,000 before it becomes important enough to report seriously here.jaydot wrote:i'm thinking that no one will take much interest until the death toll reaches 3000. then, maybe, they'll sit up and take notice, by which time it could well be a pandemic of mutated bug. oh joy, oh bliss.

Does seem to be spreading through health workers and assorted do gooders looking in and coming down with a dose before super spreading elsewhere. Africans ain't all dumb. Could have a point.

I just read two of the most interesting things, they are now afraid of ebola tourists. People that may have contracted the disease and then book flights to the US or Europe seeking better medical care. Second, that ibuprofin will lower your fever enough to get past airport screening.
Now that Texas case involves a Liberian man that never traveled to the US before, though he does have family there. I'm curious when he booked his flight.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Glenn Beck makes an excellent point that Islamic terrorists can import Ebola to any country using 150 pound "bags of water" called human beings. Simply inoculate them with the virus and and get them on a plane before they show symptoms and tell them to make physical contact with as many people as possible in low-income urban areas and to leave sputum and other bodily fluid samples on things like subway handrails, escalators, elevator buttons, and anything else many people touch a million times a day. By the time they become debilitated enough to be detected and quarantined they will have infected tens of thousands of people.

I'm off to Africa tomorrow, but right side of the Sahara, so I think there are more pressing things to worry about.

That defense has actually been successfully used in a justified self-defense killing before, with respect to HIV. No reason to think the same logic wouldn't apply to Ebola.Tero wrote:He can just shoot anyone who looks African or Arab on stand your ground basis.
