I prefer them to be there because at least they have a reasonably democratic and secular government, even if that is limited to only those of their own kind. The rest of the middle east is almost exclusively governed in theocratic, feudal or dictatorial fashion, or a mixture of them. The sole exception is Turkey, and that nation has drifted slowly and inexorably towards theocracy since Erdokan assumed power 13 years ago. If Israel ever manages to steamroll those fuckers I'll not shed a tear, no matter how many innocents who only want to mind their own business and rear some children are massacred in the process.
