Should I Stay or Should I Go Now: The Ukraine Shuffle

Post by Clinton Huxley » Tue Nov 26, 2013 8:34 am

Ukraine was due to get EU Associate status. It's yoofs are much more keen on the EU than on Roosia. Now its Govt has backed down to threats from Moscow and it looks like the Ukraine will join their mooted trade zone instead. Clashes between yoofs and police, Putin cocking a snook at EU, EU.......tutting under its breath so Russia doesn't hear and turn the gas off.

But will there be anarchy in the Ukraine? :ask:

Yeah, sucks for Ukraine to be so close to Russia. They need to work hard on getting energy supplies from the EU. Ukraine has very good reasons for dumping any association with Russia. For those who don't know, Stalin, in 1932-33, "appropriated" all of Ukraine's vast harvest of wheat and other agricultural products and shipped them east, leading to the brutal and very deliberate starvation deaths of more than 12 million Ukrainians. They call it the "Holomodor" and will never forget what was done to them by Russia.

The poisonous legacy of the Soviet Union still perverts the politics of Eastern Europe...

I think a tad more accurate. Still the same applies to the legacies all the empires, the Moors, the Nazis and the U.S.

Actually, we make our own reactorss, thank you, but it seems the Russification campaign started by the Czars and continued by the soviets worked, more than half of Ukraine's voters and the gummint are pro Russian, and probably more Russian than Ukrainian.

Russia used to be where it's at for h4ck3rs.. Now it's Prague.

I really dislike Prague. The city is pretentious. I'd much rather work out of Ostrava.
