20,000 starving horses????
If we can withstand an invasion of Poles (Poland having 10 times our population), I'm sure they can manage a few thousand Paddies.
Besides, Poland has plenty of experience of being invaded.

The author adds that "in the period of prosperity the proud animal was the symbol of high status'' but that "today, too expensive to maintain, they die of hunger".

Kewl! Starving Irish horses means starving Irish aren't far behind. I can up my expectations for finding a nice spot alongside the loch...a castle now perhaps. Maybe I can afford to buy myself a peerage too, at a bargain price.

As for us Irish, we shall eat any foreigners ill-advised enough to come here.

You'll have to talk to the folks next door about the peerage.

The Hungry Grass
By Donagh McDonagh
Crossing the shallow holdings high above sea
Where few birds nest, the luckless foot may pass
From the bright safety of experience
Into the terror of the hungry grass.
Here in a year when poison from the air
First withered in despair the growth of spring
Some skull-faced wretch whom nettle could not save
Crept on four bones to his last scattering,
Crept, and the shrivelled heart which drove his thought
Towards platters brought in hospitality
Burst as the wizened eyes measured the miles
Like dizzy walls forbidding him the city.
Little the earth reclaimed from that poor body
And yet remembering him the place has grown
Bewitched and the thin grass he nourishes
Racks with his famine, sucks marrow from the bone.
Not if we eat you first! You'll be debilitated and weak and therefore easy prey to we fat, protein-loving Americans. As for us Irish, we shall eat any foreigners ill-advised enough to come here.
”I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food...” Jonathan Swift
Oh come now, surely there's some Irishman related to Brian Bóru out there willing to sell me a peerage as High King of Ireland. You'll have to talk to the folks next door about the peerage.
