Remember when Obama said entitlements like medicare and medicaid really needed to be cut but proposed a 2012 budget that didn't address them? Republicans said it was irresponsible to ignore them, and most people figured both sides would continue to just point fingers at the other side saying "you first" without actually addressing the political hot potato.
Now it looks like the Republicans are actually going to grab the bull by the horns:

Our budget targets corporate welfare, starting by ending the conservatorship of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that is costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. It gets rid of the permanent Wall Street bailout authority that Congress created last year.
Starting in 2022, new Medicare beneficiaries will be enrolled in the same kind of health-care program that members of Congress enjoy. Future Medicare recipients will be able to choose a plan that works best for them from a list of guaranteed coverage options.... In addition, Medicare will provide increased assistance for lower- income beneficiaries and those with greater health risks.
It maintains a revenue-neutral approach by clearing out a burdensome tangle of deductions and loopholes that distort economic activity and leave some corporations paying no income taxes at all.

I'll believe it when I see it, stopping corporate welfare that is. Hard to take any budget talk seriously when the only mention of the huge military spending in the US is "accepting Defense Secretary Robert Gates's plan to target inefficiencies at the Pentagon." Inefficiencies? That's it?
