WTF is wrong with these people? Who's "civilized" and who's "barbaric"?
US Army 'kill team' in Afghanistan posed for photos of murdered civilians
Commanders in Afghanistan are bracing themselves for possible riots and public fury triggered by the publication of "trophy" photographs of US soldiers posing with the dead bodies of defenceless Afghan civilians they killed.
Senior officials at Nato's International Security Assistance Force in Kabul have compared the pictures published by the German news weekly Der Spiegel to the images of US soldiers abusing prisoners in Abu Ghraib in Iraq which sparked waves of anti-US protests around the world.
They fear that the pictures could be even more damaging as they show the aftermath of the deliberate murders of Afghan civilians by a rogue US Stryker tank unit that operated in the southern province of Kandahar last year.

Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Defenseless civilians are the easiest ones to kill.

Of course they are, poor countries are the easiest to invade as well.

But if they don't have oil, fuck 'em. Go for the countries with the most toys to steal.

Wait, so there's a war happening, and something bad happened in the war?

yah, nothing wrong with that, it's war, kill, rape, torture anyone you want. What the fuck are you talking about? Obviously there is something wrong if the individuals involved are looking at life in prison.

I don't disagree that it's terrible, as is the war (or any other) in general. What I can't fathom is the surprise. It's a war, don't be surprised when war stuff gets all in your war.

Did I give the impression I was surprised? I'm not, well...except the surprise that so called civilized countries still engage in war period.

So those individuals are looking at life in prison? Sounds like those civilized countries don't take kindly to a bunch of their soldiers going on a killing spree, and those countries are apparently willing to take action against their own soldiers if they do.
The individual soldiers may be barbarians in this case, but it seems to me like the US government is acting decidedly civilized in this matter. Well, apart from the possibility that these guys could get the death penalty. I don't think that's very civilized.

Every East Timorese, every Cambodian, every Vietnamese, every Greek has a photo of Henry Kissinger on the wall, to which they profess adoration each evening before going to sleep.
