The Pax Sinica...

Post by Clinton Huxley » Fri Mar 04, 2011 11:36 am

Blighty has been shuffled off to a retirement home, to live out its days being fed mashed banana and a diet of Countdown and Cash in the Attic on TV. The US is doing its best but the old knees are getting creaky and it needs a lie down and a bit of a nap in the afternoon these days. The Pax Sinica will soon be upon us:-

http://www.chinapost.com.tw/commentary/ ... ng-era.htm

China's defence spending is going up by 12.7% this year. A ridiculously simplistic bit of maths shows at this rate, Chinese defence spending will exceed US defence spending by 2038.

Will you, for one, welcome your new Chinese overlords?

It's a classic - frighten the US into bankrupting themselves on military expenditure. Wonder where they got the idea?

I guess if China spends more, the US will have to spend more to keep ahead, until it runs out of money (which it borrows off the Chinese anyway)

I'm not an expert on these things.

The point isn't to outdrink your rival just appear to be pushing ahead so he drinks himself under the table. :smoke:

You still haven't shown that the US will increase spending to match the Chinese.

What do you reckon, 'Zilla? How would being outspent by the Chinese on defence go down with the US public?
