A Citizens Arrest of the Pope Still Possible?
Is it possible for someone to arrest the Pope despite the cowardly failure of the high profile campaign to have him arrested? I don't know much about law and legal stuff but surely it is possible to a execute a arrest even if the Pope is released soon afterwards? This would make a point. It would fire up a debate and be of value for that alone?

I don't think so as he's visiting as head of state rather than head of the catholic church. As such he has immunity from arrest.

You cannot make a an arrest if it is reasonably practicable for a law officer to make the arrest . So anyone grabbing the Pope in front of a load of coppers cannot use the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. Sorry

It looks to me like the Pope's people knocked him down in the mad rush to grab the woman.

Sadly I don't have enough life left to wait for front row seats. My dad was invited to attend the upcoming mass in Glasgow (as an official of some strange Order he's a member of) and would have had to get up at 4am to catch a train north, from where he'd be bussed to the venue to be in position (standing, outdoors) about four hours before the mass starts. He'd then remain there for the at-least two hours of the mass itself, and then be bussed back (through the traffic generated by all those devout Catholics) to the station, hopefully in time for a train that will get him home on the same day.Millefleur wrote:How about we all just get front row seats and dress in red? He's predicting he'll have a headache that day.

A mock arrest might make a point? Just get somme old geezer to dress as the Pope and if it is planned right then it would make quite a spectacle?
