Phillipine hostage crisis

Post by Warren Dew » Tue Aug 24, 2010 6:35 pm

Evidently a Phillipine police officer who had been dismissed for corruption took a busload of tourists hostage, eventually killing 8 of them:

My question is, how can things get to a point where a police officer thinks taking hostages might succeed in getting his job back?

I don't imagine he was doing much thinking at that point. :ask:
In the best laid plans of history lie the ruins of the past
And a chronicle of suffering shows the mythic pall they cast
To believe is true religion, but to see is truth at last
Oh no, too late to hold a trial, time doesn't wait for the watchmaker's dial
