Those 'kids' are part of the problem. Sure, they are children (or lying about being children) but sometimes, they are also pawns used for criminal purposes.

If you deign to treat every child crimmigrant as a citizen, do you think there will be more effort to sneak children into the US?

And again, no matter what your proposal, the media can make it look like you are trying to hurt children. You seem to think that someone is trying to hurt kids, so why not go work beside them, watch them, and if they DO hurt a kid, do the right thing about it.

I have seen myself caught up in outrage over the wrong piece of a story. The news can, with dramating photo angles, emotive music and hair light, tell a story that is 100% factually correct, and leads the viewers to a 100% false conclusion. Surely you know that. It's why they spend so much on production.

With that being true, and with you not being very informed about the 'feet on the ground' activities, I do assume most of your outrage comes from the same place most of the popular democrat outrage has come from - the media.

The photo was from the Hussein administration, when the government was a lot more lax about crimmigrants. Now they must be a lot less lax, so I would guess that scenes like this are worse, not better.

Still doesn't change my mind about the right to secure borders. The US is run by popular opinion, not the one you think is 'right'.

mom just retired as a Child Advocate, my kids' mom has worked from CPS to adult services to work source. I have great respect for social work.

Yes I do. So when the spoon is found, and you MUST separate the family (the decision is, of course, yours, but I think you would agree that you 'must') how do you do it? Do you leave kids with their possible abusers while the DNA testing is done? Will you release the family who have been unlawfully living in the US for years (possibly) and just hope they show up?

If they don't show up in court, what about next time some of them are picked up? Wait to gather the whole family? Or eject them as they are found? (separating families either way)

That is awesome. This issue which you care about will be less of a problem with you there watching. With that kind of position, you are well placed to keep an eye on the enforcement people, who could, in my opinion, benefit from being watched more.

I'm glad to learn I was wrong to think you weren't pitching in on this issue. I am at quite a distance, and don't know the details (as I have pointed out)

Whatever is going on, as far as administering this awful job, it will be a lot less awful with suspicious people watching, documenting, and generally being involved.

Our country just closed a bunch of mental institutions because it turns out there were horrible tortures going on, administered by warm, loving people in service of high ideals. When things go institutionally wrong, they don't just go a little wrong...

I am still haunted by hearing a senior lady crying because she had wanted children. Her pain punched me right in the guts, and it stayed with me.

What happened to her, was that she was cared for poorly, in an institution, her whole life.

To put it a bit more bluntly, she was getting raped a lot, and they didn't want her to end up 'stuck with a kid', so they sterilized her.

The story is a terribly common one (Canada has been thoroughly, and recently horrible) but this one really hit home because I met the lady...shook her hand. I should have sympathy without the personal contact I suppose, but meeting her always made these concerns more tangible to me.

I'm glad you are getting involved. I hope you protect your sanity such that you can do it for a long, long time.
