We work the fewest hours of any first world country but are one of the most efficient.
You must look at GDP ppp.
In Europe:
The UK is 19th btw.

The UK is small, but it has the fifth largest GDP in the world, meaning the only European country that beats it is Germany. UK has 3 times the conomy of the Netherregions.
I described the UK as a 'middling economy'. It is in relative terms by GDP per head of population - snugly residing in the 3rd quintile. Just over 70% of nations reside within the 1st quintile php. In the absolute terms of GDP it is the seventh largest economy, but while that might seem like a top spot positionally, because it is a top spot positionally, we have to consider that the country in 3rd place, Japan, has an economy roughly a third of the USA and China at positions one and two, and that the UK's economy is roughly a fifth of the size of the big two. Yes, the UK's economy is roughly three times larger than the Netherlands, but the UK population is roughly four times as large so, unsurprisingly, the Netherlands has a more productive economy with a higher GDP per head of population. You can check the latest figures on the IMF website. So, remind me what the point was again?
Measured in terms of Purchasing Power, the UK comes out at 8th or 9th behind Brazil, Indonesia, Russia and India.
...slightly ahead of France and Mexico.

BTW I never ever trust USA statistics. My personal experience of trying to collect American data for the Dutch Ministry of Transport taught me it was impossible. No two states have the same definitions.

That chart is invalid because it doesn't have the USA at the top. That chart is rigged... many people don't know this... but it's a very rigged... and a very bad... so bad... rigged system... so rigged... it's rigged... I tell you... many people don't even know that... that it's a rigged system.

Sorry rainbow but that is a very loose statistical measure and is open to a great variation. Brazil these days is a wreck of an economy. Indonesia, Russia and India? Tempting fate. India has very little satisfactory data about itself.

Well that is the whole point. My simple task was to examine fatal road accidents. SIMPLE. Many states did not even record accidents unless they were fatal at the time of the accident which excluded deaths after the accident. Federal figures were useless and out of date as they were never revised. A nightmare.

Amazing what Google does with "rigged". Getuigd refers to ships; the rigging.

But at least the IMF data is consistent, even if it's incomplete (what dataset isn't, in some way?).

The IMF seem to be comfortable with the numbers, so apologise to them.
India has far more industry than the UK.
Brazil is an agricultural and mining powerhouse, and will bounce back once commodity prices recover.
Where will the UK be then?
