Oh, shit. I don't have crashpants (they sound important, whatever they are). :panic:

I wear all the gear all the time (when skating) because I'm basically unsafe at any speed.

Although.... The next time some idiot gets out of his car just to start a fight with me so he can murder me, I may have to add the kevlar vest. Damn. They're kinda hot (tempwise) now that we've gone into the Texas heat.

I didn't get to squeeze a single trigger during that whole Stateside trip. Every American bottle, can and paper target survived their brush with death. However, I took about 2,000 pics. Roughly 1,996 of them were shit, of course. :sigh:

If you don't know who the gun nuts are, then how do you even know any of them are gun nuts at all?

Coito, I would have to ask you to show me your gun as evidence.

You can see the problem now?

Oh, that's easy. I couldn't show it to you, because I have never owned or possessed a firearm. Well, I had a b.b. gun when I was 14. Don't wet your pants over it, though

You've just demonstrated exactly why you can't possibly know if anyone here is a gun nut. Yet, you accuse some people here of being gun nuts. You can see your problem now?

I don't know but 4 people here. So I can only accuse the on line persona known as Seth of being a gun nut.

My point was more to the effect of staying as far as possible from the gun nut, so I will just leave it to the news to cover it when they blow. I was right about so and so. I will say.

Sure there is. Merely by virtue of the fact that approximately 5 percent of people who choose to do so where it is lawful to carry concealed firearms do so, violent crime is reduced by 8 to 15 percent in the first year with additional gains in violent crime reduction as the years go by. You see, criminals are, by and large, cowards who are interested in victimizing unarmed people, not becoming dead because they, like Martin, chose the wrong person to fuck with. So, they tend to engage in less violent criminality out of the very reasonable fear that their next target will make a target of them.

This benefits you quite directly through reduced crime rates and less potential that YOU will be chosen as a violent crime victim.

Some people somewhere may fall under your statistics. You will have to convince me that gun nuts in the street are a benefit to me. I have no control over them. Even if they are 60% good and 40% loose cannons.

O.k., so there is one. You were referring to multiple people, plural.

Most of the folks on the "Reasonable Doubt" side of this discussion aren't gun aficionados. They may not be raving pansies about their existence and usefulness, but "gun nut" would be a ridiculous allegation for most folks posting here.

It's just such a ridiculous argument on your part. You can't identify the "gun nuts" out and about in order to stay away from them. Zimmerman just looked like any old Hispanic. Unless you're going to suggest that there was some way to identify Zimmerman from a distance as a gun nut, you're glib and snarky statements just don't cut it. It amounts to a silly platitude, "I hate guns and keep people with guns away from me!" That's about as useful as a fart in a jacuzzi.

You won't be able to fairly analyze the issue until you stop referring to those who own guns as gun nuts.

It's like starting out with the proposition that blacks are niggers, or gypsies thieves. It's just another stereotype, only not in relation to race or national origin.

If I only give them rifles and shotguns, I can see the gun nuts. Now they have concealed weapons, hand guns.

I don't avoid individuals. I avoid the places where the guns are. I work in a neighborhood that I hate to drive thru at night. It is a slum. The interstate is the only safe way to get to work at night.

Clues to gun nut behavior: checks gun daily. Carries gun everywhere. Leaves in car trunk at work as no guns are allowed and he might be fired.

And, this nonsense has what-all to do with the Zimmerman case?

Answer: nothing, except to be a rant against gun owners, whom you refer to in stereotypical fashion collectively as "nuts."
