Sure there is. Merely by virtue of the fact that approximately 5 percent of people who choose to do so where it is lawful to carry concealed firearms do so, violent crime is reduced by 8 to 15 percent in the first year with additional gains in violent crime reduction as the years go by. You see, criminals are, by and large, cowards who are interested in victimizing unarmed people, not becoming dead because they, like Martin, chose the wrong person to fuck with. So, they tend to engage in less violent criminality out of the very reasonable fear that their next target will make a target of them.

This benefits you quite directly through reduced crime rates and less potential that YOU will be chosen as a violent crime victim.

I don't avoid individuals. I avoid the places where the guns are. I work in a neighborhood that I hate to drive thru at night. It is a slum. The interstate is the only safe way to get to work at night.
