Re: The Anne Frank Train
Was Anne Frank the only non German on that list of names? It was a strange inclusion.

show me an honest politician, and you'll find one that's never been in a position of power.

I am not that negative Svarty. We have had some very decent politicians here and still do.

"We will not exercise managerial control over NS even though we own 100% of the company. Honestly and truly, we won't." Yeah. Right. The Dutch government only sets goals. So, what happens if those goals are not achieved?Scot Dutchy wrote:It has 100% share ownership which does not mean managerial control or is that concept new to you.Hermit wrote:Cf:Scot Dutchy wrote:Is is a private company that the state has 100% share ownership.Strontium Dog wrote:NS are actually owned by the Dutch state.Scot Dutchy wrote:NS is not owned by the state.

is 'positive thought' a recent way to rephrase reality denial?

Various surveys in Oz have shown a steady decline in the trust and respect people have for their politicians, and indeed for the overall government system.

Re: The Anne Frank Train
My respect for the French civil service took a bad hit the other day, when I discovered that the tomb at Vix, discovered in 1953 and possibly the most major find of French archeology in the 20th century concerning Celtic culture, of which I've known for 30 years or so, was only added to the list of important historical monuments to be preserved in 2006.
My utter disgust for politics and politicians is already well documented here.
