" Quite possibly the fault of the SNP. "
Not sure where that comes from ? The SNP have not had much influence on Local politics here .
The problem is that main trunk roads have been built inside the city there has never been a ring- road or by-pass.
To be honest this place is so insular historically they maybe wanted it to be the end of the road .
As for Aberdeen City being ugly, and it is often said , I'm always confused . It's a small coastal city between two beautiful rivers, that's won "Britain in bloom" probably more times than any other place ....
Of course city-scapes aren't my thing, esthetically, So Maybe I'm a little confused as to the merits of Glasgow Dundee or Carlisle etc .
As to the roads there is one from the south up the coast one from the west through Royal Deeside the highlands etc and one north along the coast and one inland of that through rolling farmland .....
We don't have any motorways thought, so maybe I'm missing out on the photogenic joys of the M90 M74 or the M6 ?

When I lived in that London, back in the last century, I was going up the loooong escalator at Angle tube some distance behind a gaggle of (I presumed, and still do) Japanese tourists. When I crowned the mechanism to alight about seven of them were waiting with cameras poised, flashes engaged, to take pictures of me paparazzi style. The men gave me cheery grins and the women tittered with their hands over their noses as I staggered off half dazzed. To this day I have no idea why they might have found me so photogenic.

The Japanese are funny. They take a photo of anything. I remember once we went to Lone Pine (a sort of mini zoo thing in the suburbs of Brisbane) and there were hordes of Japanese taking photos of our daughter (about 1 year old or so) in her pram. I've also had them lining up taking photos of my son on his boogey board in the surf. They must get home from their trips and have thousands of photos of random kids and pets and otherwise. Crazy.

They are fucking crazy, but it's our fault. We took one of the most warlike cultures in history and told them they couldn't have a military any more. They didn't listen, and to shut them up we had to fucking nuke them. Fucking TWICE. That's hardcore. So now it's butt-sniffing parlors, schoolgirl porn, and a completely emasculated bunch of 40 year old virgin males obsessed with photographing other people's kids. Sad.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I often do think on the total difference between their culture now from back then. Really bizarre. I also think about the German change as well, but it's more normal and the Germans still have heaps of self-respect.

I was eating raw herring as one does in proper Holland's style outside one of the superior suppliers when a bus load of Nips past by and all took photos of me. I was asked to hold the position of tipping one's head back and holding the fish by the tail and lowering into your mouth whole.
