I don't follow your logic.
Just because I'm not fond of soldiers, or feel much grief for one, doesn't make it ok to kill them.

I very rarely kill anyone. Nor feel the urge.

Maybe when the black and tans were operating, I might have been tempted.
I don't follow your logic. But hey, what's new?

What's that? It's no Ka Bar, and I thought a Sykes-Fairbairn was more slender relative to length.

Yes because that would have prevented him from being run over by a car. :bored:

There was a report that one of them was intercepted trying to travel to Somalia, that was how he came under the radar of MI5. They were apparently from Christian families, and converted to Islam.

That's why the dumb fuckers were quoting from the bible, as well as the koran.
The shit he was coming out with on camera actually reminded me of Tom Cruise. It was memorised phrases, with no brain behind it, just stock phrases being recycled. Tom Cruise was doing much the same thing in an interview about his own dumb religion. It gets them through having to actually explain something, when they don't actually know what the fuck they are talking about.

As far as Soldiers go, I don't feel much grief for them. They join up knowing that they will be called on to kill people, including the innocent, on orders from above. Getting killed is a chance they knowingly and willingly take. Our soldiers kill more innocent people than terrorists do.
I feel sorry for the relatives, not the soldier.

I'd argue that mil-pers is a military target 24/7/365... but I'm not arguing IRA with an Irishman.

The dead soldier has been named as Lee Rigby of the 2nd Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers:

Why not? After all, Irishmen argue over the IRA.

Religious dogma preying on vulnerable, unstable minds .. rationalising horrendous acts in the name of their tyrannical god.

The psychology of it is fascinating, frightening ...

I feel for the attacked man's family, friends and community. :(
There's been a violent civil war going on in Somalia for 30 years. There are lots of Somali refugees in the UK. We have a large Somali community in Cardiff. I became friendly with a few of them in a previous job, and they were (with few exceptions) the most militant Muslims I've met, more so than the Pakistani Muslims I've known.
Someone earlier in the thread spoke of him as having a definite Brit accent, so he's probably been in Britain since childhood - not a recent immigrant with emotional scars from their violent environment...
So what's the background, then? Raised in the UK, but not fitting in and wanting to identify with something ... something that turns out to be a vicious form of Islamic fundamentalism ... Where does the idea and capacity to butcher another human being come from in the 21st century?
