The State of California is holding a lottery for subsidised public housing where many people have been holding their 'ticket' for more than a decade. Managing these things by lottery is ludicrous, no other country does it.Forty Two wrote:Diversity lottery is stupid. It is literally a lottery for green cards. Do other countries do that?

What's all the same?
Look the diversity lottery is a random lottery for green cards. It's absurd.
Most immigration is not refugee -- refugees are those fleeing natural disasters or a well-founded fear of political, religious, or sex/race/etc. persecution. The rest of immigration is employment based and family based, and has little to do with "disturbed" areas. People immigrate from all sorts of countries, most of which are not "disturbed."

In a broad sense, it’s all the same. Disturbed by war, overpopulated etc. The land area of Syria no longer supports the population. The flow would be slower without war. Global warming is ruining their agriculture. Upward mobility is not there as the peole do not own oil.Forty Two wrote:What's all the same?

Look at it this way: war was the last straw for people anxious to leave anyway.

Job cuts not going fast enough!!!
From The Hill article:
//U.S. employers cut 29,831 jobs in October, bringing the total number of job cuts for 2017 so far 351,309 — the lowest 10-month total in 20 years, according to a survey released Thursday.//
At this rate, people need to keep working. We need to cut 100 million jobs. That way the Government can take care of us.

Lower rates of job cuts is a good thing.

Lower taxes, lower unemployment, surging economy, increasing construction, increasing manufacturing -- all sound pretty good. What would you prefer?

Trump success against ISIS is hard to deny - http://www.nationalreview.com/article/4 ... is-victory
Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/4 ... is-victoryIn January, ISIS controlled 23,300 square miles. Today it holds onto about 9,300 square miles. Trump’s role in the transformation is not insignificant. It is unfair to U.S. and coalition troops to claim, as Trump does, that they didn’t “fight to win” until he arrived in the Oval Office. But as the Times admits, there was one significant difference. In the spring, Trump loosened the rules of engagement to allow commanders in the field more authority in day-to-day decisions about fighting the enemy. Under Obama, the White House micromanaged the conflict in a manner that calls to mind the way President Lyndon Johnson and Defense Secretary Robert McNamara fought the Vietnam War with similar dismal results.

O.k., solid response. How else would you like it to be?

He could do all that by cutting corporate taxes and doing nothing else. Naftas etc are there for mutual benefit of trading partners. Cars assembked in Mexico use American parts.

Well, I don't disagree about the tweets. But that's window dressing. He hasn't repealed NAFTA, so, that hasn't been an issue yet. He's hoping to cut corporate taxes, but will, no doubt, meet significant resistance on that.Tero wrote:He could do all that by cutting corporate taxes and doing nothing else. There's a bit of an issue with your "cars assembled in mexico use american parts" - that's not accurate anymore. All the parts suppliers are Chinese now - almost all of 'em.
