I've been wondering about those poor Trump supporter who lost friends due to electing a criminal, shit-stirrer based on anger and how that, now they've seen who he truly is after realising they've been swindled on their taxes, they can begin making amends because, let's face it, their quarrel wasn't over taxes. So renunciation probably isn't enough.

I was thinking along the lines that maybe they could first support immigrant-based charities and help reunite the thousands of children that have been separated from their parents. Maybe they could even visit these shelters and see for themselves first-hand the damage they've caused. Or maybe they could support green initiatives and politicians who wish to reverse Trump's insane environmental roll-backs. It might be advisable, too, that many of these people reach outside of their communities and actually get to know POCs, homosexuals, and even Muslims and others harmed by the toxic rhetoric spewed by Trump and shard by them online.

What do Americans think? How far would a Trump supporter you've fallen out with have to go to get back into your good graces?

Yeahbut he can't help being an asshole. He could have done so much "winning" for you libertarians and even built a wimpy fence. If he was not an asshole that can't negotiate. Only boss around and fire.

Who would want to be friends with some total douchebag who would end a friendship over a Presidential vote?

Anytime you want to apologize to friends you insulted or disowned because you didn't like their vote, go right ahead. You're the asshole in that equation.

I think most Trump supporters think the economic and other policies of the asshats you support do real damage to people and the nation as a whole. So, they disagree with the policies of those you would support, and they find that that people like you are blinded by your deranged hatred of Trump to see that it is people like you who are advancing damaging policies and planks. They have a difference of opinion, which for you and people like you is enough to (as the Scientologists say) "disconnect" from family and friends who don't share your views. It's awful behavior when Scientology cultists do it, and it's just as awful when Leftists do it.

I hope no Trump supporter would care to get back in the good graces of someone who would end a friendship or familial relationship over this kind of political difference. Such a person is a total and complete toolbag, not worthy of being anyone's friend in the first place. A hateful, intolerant scumbag would act like that. I hope a Trump supporter would simply move on with their lives and deal with people that aren't like that. And, if the anti-trump person who ended a friendship or familial relationship over the issue ever came back to try to apologize for their abhorrent behavior, I hope that a sincere apology would be rewarded with personal redemption and forgiveness. People expressing sincere regret for their mistakes deserve a second chance, generally speaking, IMO.

LOL, he's accomplished much of his agenda and fulfilled most of his promises in two years.

The wall is not there solely because of the obstructionist policies of democrats who have formerly voted in favor of border walls previously. They are obstructing it because they know that if Trump doesn't get something under way by 2020, they can declare him a failure on a major promise.
"We're building a lot of wall," he said. "I'm not waiting for this committee."

"By the way, if you go to Tijuana, and you take down that wall, we'll have so many people coming into our country that Nancy Pelosi will be begging for a wall -- she'll be begging for a wall. She will say, 'Mr. President, please, please, give us a wall.'"

"It'd be very interesting," the president noted as an aside. "Some people have suggested, let me take the wall around California, let's take it to Arizona, let's take it to Texas. It'd be a very interesting statement."

"About Nancy," he continued. "In California, they wanted the wall built in San Diego, so badly, and we built it, and probably we should have waited, because as soon as it was finished, they started screaming, 'We don't want a wall, we don't want a wall.' And by the way, it worked."
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video ... &p=1814957#

That would be hilarious if Trump said "oh, yeah, Nancy, you don't like immoral walls - o.k., we're taking down the border walls between Mexico and California."

Roughly 105 miles of the 140-mile border California shares with Mexico are walled off by pedestrian fencing or vehicle barriers, beginning on the west coast with a tall, metal fence that juts into the Pacific Ocean. The only parts that aren't fenced are the Otay Mountain region and the Jacumba Mountain region, which are so unforgiving, barren and remote that migrants can't generally get through that way.

As the California border was secured with physical barriers - the illegal crossings shifted from California to -- surprise surprise - states where there aren't as many miles of fencing.

The barrier works. What do you think would happen if we tore it down?

Tero, do you support tearing down the walls and fencing already erected in California? If so, why? If not, why not?

Still looks that way to me, from out here.

Oh, good. At least they don't appeal to those with toxic masculinity. Fragile men are sensitive, which is a good thing, isn't it?

Let's have a laugh at this real version of "The Conceptual Penis..." -- "NYU Psychology professor Eric Knowles and doctoral student Sarah DiMuccio queried 300 men on Amazon's crowdsourcing platform Mechanical Turk to discover whether they had or would search for terms such as "erectile dysfunction," "how to get girls," "penis enlargement," "testosterone," and "Viagra," among others."

Wow - 300 men? on Amazon's crowdsourcing platform "Mechanical Turk?" That sounds like a very representative sampling.

And, the method is that they asked whether the men would search for the above search terms, which, apparently are search terms used by men of "fragile masculinity." LOL. Because, hey, if you're a man with erectile dysfunction, or one that needs help doing well with women, or if you have a small penis - well, that means you have fragile masculinity. It's the same way women are described in persuasive studies, you know - take 300 women on Tumblr and ask them if they search for "vaginal dryness," "tricks to attract hot guys" (actual article in Cosmopolitan Magazine), "vaginal tightening", estrogen and "little pink pill - Addyi" -- would demonstrate that women who support Hillary Clinton tend to have "fragile femininity."

The methodology and underlying principles are rock-solid, Tero. It's no wonder you glom onto it. It's not a biased social sciences study based on nonsense at all.

"They then correlated the geopgrahic dispersion of these search topics in 2016 with how such areas voted in that year's election, finding "that support for Trump in the 2016 election was higher in areas that had more searches for topics such as 'erectile dysfunction.' " -- so, they were able to disburse a sample of 300 men, and determine that nationwide, the areas where these 300 men tended to be from were areas which tended to have higher support for trump.

I mean, that would have nothing to do with the fact that the map of areas supporting trump in the country is like this in 2016, with pretty much the only areas not tending to support Trump were the major metropolitan areas, and if most of these men were from any of the areas on the map in red, they would qualify as living in a Trump supporting district.....

The study also noted that there is no causal connection - it's just correlative, but because they know that fragile masculinity does have a tendency to effect political beliefs, they think that the results are "important." The went on "They also noted that they cannot say whether fragile masculinity will guide voting after Trump is no longer a prominent political force." So, even though fragile masculinity informs political beliefs, they suspect it might be a feature peculiar to Donald Trump. I.e., people who search for viagra and erectile dysfunction information tend to vote for Trump and Republicans in general now, but they aren't going to say this study holds true for any other Presidents.

That's a news worthy study, for sure. Very academically sound. It doesn't at all epitomize the massive bullshit piling up in the social sciences.

'If you don't forgo a subpoena, I won't testify.' Yeah, that's going to work.

'Whitaker clashes with Dems over subpoena threat'
Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker told the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday that he would not appear before the panel as planned on Friday unless Chairman Jerry Nadler drops his subpoena threat.

Whitaker's statement comes after the committee authorized Nadler (D-N.Y.) to subpoena the acting attorney general if he does not answer certain questions during Friday's highly anticipated hearing.

“Based upon today’s action, it is apparent that the Committee’s true intention is not to discuss the great work of the Department of Justice, but to create a public spectacle,” Whitaker said. “Political theater is not the purpose of an oversight hearing, and I will not allow that to be the case.”
'This isn't supposed to be political theater, but I'm going to be a drama queen anyway.'

I was talking to my creationist friend earlier about Kent Hovind and I said, "You know he's a fraudster con artist who did time, right?" And he said it was a liad of rubbish and they were just out to get him! :what:

Your friend was half right. 'They' (meaning law enforcement and the courts) were out to get Hovind. For the crimes that they suspected (and eventually proved) that he had committed.
