Yes, the alleged perpetrators were associates of his, but I can't see how their alleged crimes have anything to do with the Trump-Russia affair.
It's exactly what critics were saying 6 months ago - that Mueller's investigation would just cast a wide fishing net, and bring in all sorts of garbage that has nothing to do with the actual reason for him being placed as a special prosecutor to begin with. Now we're going to here all about Manafort's tax evasion and money laundering in 2014 and 2015, none of which Trump was privy to. And it's all couched as "conspiracy against the United States" to give a nice headline to the media.
