The USA spends more money on the military than anyone else. China is the second biggest, and the USA spends $2-50 on its military for every $1-00 China spends.

The result is that the USA has the biggest and best equipped armed forces. But that does not say, for a moment, that its soldiers are better.

In the aftermath of WWII, a Japanese officer was asked who was the best jungle fighter. He replied that the Gurkhas were way better than anyone else. The ANZACS were as good as the Japanese. But the Americans ...... By the time the Americans got their equipment to where they were supposed to fight, there was no jungle left!

The Viet Nam war was associated with the most reprehensible behaviour by American soldiers, ranging from rapes, murders, 'fragging' officers, running from battle, smoking pot when on guard, and other problems.

Nice of you to conveniently forget about the Red Chinese, Stalin, Hitler, the Kaiser, Saddam, Iraq, and every other despotic regime that has used it's military to commit horrible crimes against humanity while falsely (and most mendaciously) implying that all American soldiers are tarred with the evil actions of a very, very small number of actual criminals, whom you know about only because the US is quite open about revealing, investigating and punishing such misdeeds. However, it was not because American soldiers are bad. Some are very good. The problems were for two reasons.
1. Those misbehaving soldiers were conscripts.
2. The misbehaving soldiers did not believe in what they were doing. Why should they fight and put their lives on the line for a cause they considered to be a load of crap?

Would you care to cite your references with respect to the absolute numbers or proportional representation of "misbehaving soldiers" to non-misbehaving soldiers in Vietnam?

Yes, unfortunately they do. But by "they" I mean the idiot dependent class who vote in the sort of people who have no problem sending the selfsame dependent class to Vietnam involuntarily.
